It's not Just because you are not smart, it's because you are probably bad at sports.. 1) this is Russ. I mean, this is far over his standards, but everybody knows about turnover issues. LBJ knows it. Pelinka knows it. They Simply dont care because he does other stuff. Would that work? Those Who do sport at good level, know it. And smart people in general; 3) Russ is a really phisical player. Those Who do and know sport, understand how players with a great phisicality look much worst than they are, when they are out of shape. If you have 2 great players, the First skilled but small, the second skilled and strong, the First Will be good instantly, even out of breathe, the second Will look like a 70 years old. That's really basic knoledge; 4) Russ is not a cool guy. I mean people like Russ (or maybe LeBron) are really influenced by the environment and by other people. Russ is probably super emotional for playing in LA.. now that thing is an issue. That could be an issue in many situation during playoffs. But sometimes, expecially when you have to react to a bad loss, that kind of mental asset helps a lot. However, people in the organization, and in general smart people already know it. They know Russ. LeBron knows it. Pelinka knows it. They Just dont care. Would they fail? Will see..

But even when you "meet" Westbrook he averages 5 turnovers per 10 assists. No that's not the norm. Point guards like Chris Paul whom are playmakers as well will give you 9 assists and 2 turnovers. Westbrook will give you 10 assists and 5 turnovers. So the 6 turnovers we saw from him are what teams have seen from him the past 5 years even after they 'meet' him.

The trade was a positive no matter how you look at it. I agree it will be very difficult to work Russ into the offense, but the pieces they traded for him were definitely a win, objectively. I thought they were gonna flip Russ to another team, but I guess not.
