1. Favorite Book so far is "Iron Widow" by Xiran Jay Zhao. It's my only 5-star read so far this year. 2. Favorite Sequel is "The Sinister Booksellers of Bath" by Garth Nix. 3. New Release Yet to Read is "The Sunbearer Trials" by Aiden Thomas. 4. Most Anticipated Release is The Memory Thieves by Dhonielle Clayton 5. Biggest Disappointment is "A Lesson in Vengeance" by Victoria Lee 6. Biggest Surprise was "Gideon the Ninth" by Tamsyn Muir. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did 7. Favorite New Author is Margaret Rogerson; I've gone through all their books this year and loved them. 8. Newest Fictional Crush is Wendell Bambleby from "Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries" and Gideon Nav from "Gideon the Ninth. 9. Newest Favorite Character is Zofia from "The Gilded Wolves" by Roshani Chokshi and, of course, Gideon Nav. 10. Book that Made You Cry is "Anne of Green Gables. 11. Book that Made You Happy is "Sorcery of Thorns" by Margaret Rogerson, because despite the stakes I was laughing SO HARD. 12. Most Beautiful is either my hardback of "Emily Wilde's Encylopaedia of Faeries" by Heather Fawcett or the simple but striking cover of "Iron Widow". 13. Books I Need to Read Before the End of the Year are...a lot, but especially "The Book of Life" by Deborah Harkness and "Dracul" by Dacre Stoker. 14. Content Creators are Lexi (of course), Darling Desi, A Clockwork Reader, thisstoryaintover, and number of accounts on Instagram.

I just finished What Lies in the Woods. Last year I read Rules for Vanishing. Now I want to read all her books. You've talked about that popular book club before and I thought you'd joined. It surprises me that someone's place in the book club has to be fought for every month. That seems like a difficult way to create a comfortable atmosphere of readers. I could understand if there was a rule about missing meetings and losing your spot, but ..... the idea of a monthly lottery makes me uncomfortable. Hmmm. I've read a lot of five star books so far this year. If I need to choose just one, I'm gonna go with A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers because it was exactly the right book, at exactly the right time, telling me exactly what I needed to hear. It's always special when that happens.

🌼 I’m currently reading The Book that Wouldn’t Burn by Mark Lawrence and it’s shaping up to be my favorite book of the year so far. Gives strong Piranesi vibes. Very surreal world and you are just dropped in to figure it out as you go along. Here’s the Goodreads summary: “A boy has lived his whole life trapped within a vast library, older than empires and larger than cities. A girl has spent hers in a tiny settlement out on the Dust where nightmares stalk and no one goes. The world has never even noticed them. That's about to change. Their stories spiral around each other, across worlds and time. This is a tale of truth and lies and hearts, and the blurring of one into another. A journey on which knowledge erodes certainty, and on which, though the pen may be mightier than the sword, blood will be spilled and cities burned”

Fun video! I loved hearing about your favs! My favorite book I finished reading this year was The Last Argument of Kings by Joe Abercrombie - a grim, dark fantasy. The Ten Thousand Doors of January is probably my second favorite. I enjoyed it so much. The most beautiful book I purchased this year is a special edition of The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell - it's a UK full decorated hardcover edition. I haven't read it yet. Poetry wasn't in the mix but my favorite poetry collection so far is Winter Recipes from the Collective by Louise Gluck. Gorgeous. Thanks for your content! You always make me smile!

🌼 Favorite book of the year was Outland by Dennis E. Taylor. This is book one in the Quantum Earth Series. University students in western USA are working hard to finish school projects. All have a different specialty, and all their talents are needed when Yellowstone shows signs of going supernova. This was action packed and had all the feels.

I enjoyed the heck out of Fourth Wing, I strongly agree with your statements on Half a Soul. I want (nay, need) to read That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon. There's too many favourites this year and we're only half way through. The Push, Kiss Her Once For Me, Nothing To See Here, How To Flirt With a Naked Werewolf, Fairy Tale (if you are reading this comment, clearly you can see that I am cheating A LOT but I would like to say that this is only a few of the ones I've really enjoyed.) Paladin's Grace, Mistborn, Silver Under Nightfall and In The Lives of Puppets. Thank you for coming to my book talk. :p

My favourite book I have read so far this year is Evil Roots: Killer Tales of the Botanical Gothic. I absolutely adore this and it did become a new favourite. I immediately ordered in From the Depths and other strange tales of the sea which is part of the same series, and the next I have my eye on is Holy Ghosts: Classical Tales of the Ecclesiastical Uncanny. And the types of books I want to read by the end of the year are anthologies. I think the next one I'll pick up, assuming I'll get to it before certain collections arrive is my Bram Stoker collection.

I think my favourite book by far that I've read this year is the Last Russian Doll by Kristen Loesch. It is historic fiction set in Russia, and it follows three generations of women in three significant time periods in Russia, the Russian Revolution in 1917, the siege of Leningrad (now St Petersburg) in 1942 and the purges of Stalin in the time of the Sovjet Union, ending with the Fall of the Iron Curtain in the early 90s of the last century. I didnt expect the book to make me feel as deeply as it did, but it left me thinking for sometime afterwards and I highly recommend!😊

1. Best book you’ve read so far this year. The Neptune Project by Polly Holyoke. I read it during Middlegrade March. Amazing, sci-fi dystopian with talking dolphins. What else would you need?😉 2. Best sequel you've read so far this year. It's a tie between The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren and The Fires of Vengeance by Evan Winter. 3. New release you haven't read yet but want to. I Keep My Exoskeletons to Myself by Marisa Crane 4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year. Family Lore by Elizabeth Acevedo 5. Biggest disappointment. Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James. This book was too vulgar for me, and I had to DNF it. 6. Biggest surprise. Direction of the Road: A Story by Ursula K. Le Guin. My book club was doing a theme of "reading from an unexpected perspective." This 19-page story was told from the perspective of a tree. I tried to fit in one more story before I had to attend the meeting. I didn't expect to give a 19-page story 5 stars, nor have it stick with me the way it has, but my goodness. I need to read more books by her. 7. Favourite new author. (Debut or new to you) Camille Baker. I read her Have We Met? duology and loved it. I will gladly pick up anything else she chooses to put out. 8. Newest fictional crush. Death, aka Suzie from Reincarnation Blues by Michael Poore 9. Newest favourite character. Perihelion aka, ART from Artificial Condition and Network Effect in The Murder Bot Diaries 10. Book that made you cry. The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren 11. Book that made you happy. Let's Play Dead by Sheila Connolly 12. Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received) I recently bought Owlflight by Mercedes Lackey & Larry Dixon from a library sale. Gorgeous! 13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year. The Mark of Zorro by Johnston McCulley

Ok 9:39 just finished The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires. I think you did well to caution about triggers.I had to stop for 3 days halfway through because the triggers were so hard to process! 😮 But with the help of Stephanie Foo’s book on healing with cPTSD, I was able to deal with the trigger and move on. The Grady Hendrix books are becoming my new favorites. Despite the triggers, I would give the book 5 enthusiastic stars. 😊

My favorite book of the year is a tie between The Stardust Thief and Better Than the Movies. Better Than the Movies is that cheesy romcom storyline with an enemies to lovers troupe, but it was done well. On the opposite side The Stardust Thief is a fantasy that has Aladdin or Arabian Night vibes with a quest to find a magic lamp with Jinn or Genies involved it was such a ride to read, but I highly recommend 🌼

Also if you haven't read it yet, a dark academia ghost book I think you'd like is The Ghosts Of Ashbury High by Jaclyn Moriarty! So good! And now I've got more book tubers to check out!! XD

I am finishing the Harry Potter series yet again... so would have to say my favourite book this year has been the Half blood prince. 🤷‍♀️ Did really enjoy the first mistborn book but disliked the second so much I still have to get to the third one! 😂 Finished Frankenstein which I really liked... Have you finally read it? 😉😉 Also, bought Pineapple street thanks to you! One of my next read! Great videos! ❤ 💐🌹🥀🌺🌷🪷🌸💮🏵️🪻🌻🌼 No daisies?! Left you all the flowers!

🌼It's hard to narrow it down to a favorite, but I think I'll go with Hell Followed With Us, by Andrew Joseph White. I loved the portrayal of queerness and queer community, and how real the characters felt. And I'm obsessed with queer books about religion, and love the way White portrays religious extremism through a queer lens
