Being a Golden Retriever Owner I can tell that it's not as easy as it seems to raise a Goldie. Even though they are one of the most intelligent and gentle dogs, there are quite a few challenges that every new parent goes through. Daughter and I had to convince Dad. We watched movies with Goldens in them and left books around. He now loves our fur darling.

My understanding is that the Red Goldens were the result of breeding with Irish Setters in the late 19th Century.
