damn, that "dear mario" segment actually fits REALLY well while changing what the point of that segment was. whereas the original version feels like some part of spamton desperately crying for help, this feels more like a corrupted memory of once was, and a frantic attempt to piece it back together. a reminder that mario once used to be normal, but something changed or corrupted him.

He could've slapped on the M64 instruments and called it a day, but no. He swapped in Mario's voice and reworked across numerous songs, and came up with fitting names for each new track

"BLJ Gone Wrong" is a surprisingly fitting title in the context of the game. In mario 64, backwards long jumps are used to bypass certain areas, you're doing something you're not supossed to, in order to break the limits of what you can normally do. You're escaping the bounds placed by the game itself. Well played OP.

The amount of references in "PLAYING MY GAME" it'd just amazing, the hidden lyrics being peach letter, using the Mario 64 piano in the dummy part, and using the Mario voice in parts of the song it's just so wonderful

To be honest, this is an incredible replacement. Imagine being mario. He's basically just a puppet, both for the people playing his games, forcing him to run and jump and crush turtys, but also for nintendo themselves. Mario has always been referred to as an "everyman", where you can just throw him into a plot and both him and the plot itself wouldn't change a bit. He's always the hero, the main character, he's in the spotlight, but what happens when that ends? When people don't want to play his game anymore? He'd be abandoned, left to rot at the bottom of a dumpster, trapped in a game nobody will ever play. It's kind of sad when you think about it, and perfect for a spamton replacement in like an AU or something.

This is really good, you see a lot of lazy soundfont swaps over a midi out there, but this is really well crafted and has some really nice touches like the voices and the phone replacement in game over, really well done.

This would be a great idea for a meta take on a secret boss. Like he was the main character before our character came along, and after years of no more adventures, people slowly start forgetting him. Now you come along and have all the thunder that he used to have, and mad with revenge, he makes a game just for you to play, where hopefully after he kills you, he gets all the former glory back. Edit: After scrolling, I saw a comment with basically the exact same idea, so credit to baby boi to coming up with it first

"spamario" and "THANKS YOU SO MUCH FOR" are currently not in a loopable chapter and stuck together. plus it appears that "chapters" have been changed to "key moments" and can not be looped as far as i can tell. hopefully it can be fixed soon!

The “PLAYING MY GAME” song really evokes a feeling of a hero whose gone insane after completing his final adventure, and is yearning for the glory days. Imagine this: You completed Mario 64 way back in the 90s, and have no want to touch it again. Mario wants someone to play the cart again like so many others do, but this cart never gets the light of day again. This is until a dark world gets formed in the world, so he desperately tries to get their attention in any way they can, to play a battle in this new system, to play a new game with him.
