Created by former Korg engineer Tatsuya Takahashi, DSP engineer Christoph Hohnerlein and hardware manufacturer Maximilian Rest, the Granular Convolver is a unique approach to thinking about and designing future musical instruments.
The Granular Convolver is a new musical device created for participants of RBMA Berlin 2018, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the global music institution.

In the meantime, Granulator II and Convolution Reverb Pro in Ableton Live will get you close. Drop a short sample in the reverb to convolve it with whatever is being granulated.

What is the difference between this thing and simply throwing a short sample into a convolution reverb?

A convolution reverb is the finger print of a room. This takes the finger print of two sounds, not reverbs, and combines them

@@theogaletka9145 But if you put random sound in the convolution reverb it won't be reverb either. The sounds it processes will take the frequency characteristics of the loaded sound. Ableton Live Convolution Reverb allows load 2 sounds together. But I think it's different though.

Just make a plugin. I know hipsters need a clunky box that makes audio mud for the 11 people that showed up at your coffee shop euro-noise show but you could just sell software and avoid the hassle and hope to maybe even do better than break even.

The device looks absolutely amazing but it sounds like shit. The description of what it does is so vague that I'm sure this was done intentionally to drive interest. The reason the production run was so limited was because it costs far too much in materials and manufacturing to be a real product. If they were smart they would have built an extra 300 or so units to keep in storage for several years so they can gouge the collectors who absolutely have to have one.
