Retriever, you don't have to worry about the dogs with Kelly present. She'll just sweet talk them and calm them down. Plus, remember you have trekking poles and umbrellas to deter those who seem aggressive. Even though it was mostly road walk, it was still pretty with a lot of forests on either side of the road. How neat of the lady to invite you to stay for lunch. True hospitality. Kelly, don't worry about the hair. It doesn't look bad, maybe just a little wind blown. Ya'll take care. Stay safe. I always hike with my dogs, they are the best hiking buddies. No-one can get or give as much joy and wonder hiking like a puppy. They bring out my best.

Oh no! The litte fawn, I know the moms will leave them alone, but she's so tiny to be alone. I'm glad you and Retriever are the ones that were there and not folks who would try to touch her or anything. ... My husband is very nervous of dogs, especially large ones so I know in person how that is for people who feel that way. I'm glad the Shepherds were nice. ... Cool tree mushroom! .. Great hike today! So many animals! Animals make our hikes better. Do you know the name of that flower that smells like sun screen? What a treat to see that fawn! So precious!

Glad the German shepherds were well behaved. My son has been training for mt. Fuji and running training for 2 5ks and yesterday he encountered a German shepherd on his morning run in which he was attacked. The person felt really bad as he is trying to work with him to not to be aggressive. The dog was very abused and was taken away and put into a shelter. The guy had him on a leash and broke away. My son doesn't want the dog to be put down so he agreed for the guy to take him to an urgent care to mend to his wounds. The guy paid for everything. It's sad when so called owners abuse and abandon animals. I also admire the work you do for animals. Be safe.

There is something about hiking and a happy dog that makes things all ok. That fawn was so peaceful looking all curled up in the grass. That was a nice treat for you! Weird hike being on the road, especially where the previous one was on a trailless trail ! lol But, it was nice to come across kindness and you were able to rest with some nice people, pet some friendly dogs and walking with a few chickens ! I have to say that I would be a bit freaked out setting up tent so close to a road.....but the clean toilet was a nice convenience. Enjoy your night. :)

Trying to follow along on a map, and google doesn't show the ALT too well. so I guess it dropped off the Peters mountain ridge west into Gap Mills, WV and headed up route 8? Yer kind of "back there" right now, some of those state parks in WV can be so quiet - ie, maybe a very occasional airplane overhead - which is really wonderful may have to find Moncove one of these days. To repeat myself, your opening view was looking west, which is completely different landscape - not even technically mountains - than looking back at the ridges to the east. Yeah, everyone beat me too it, all the dogs know yer out there supporting them :^)

Road walking...yuck....tough on the feet...nice scenery and good weather..hopefully you'll be back in the woods soon!!

Then Day 2 maybe the dogs were not threaten because you did not have hats on?? The fawn was so sweet. Was it hurt.?OH no just hurt the dogs!!! but then you had the the nice happy puppy .
