You can never find a better version in the net for this long interview
Stephen A. and Allen basically grew up together professionally, so their on-camera chemistry created an interview that basically put Bubba Chuck's entire life on the table. The result was rawer than anyone could have ever imagined. In an audience featuring men and women, black and white, young and old, Allen offered a side of himself that tugged at the heartstrings of each person. You could see it in their faces as a roller-coaster of emotions took over the entire studio. He wore an army fatigue shirt featuring Tupac and Biggie; symbolic in a sense because the two rappers, both loved and hated during their lives for the hope they gave people and the fear they instilled in middle America. Iverson, to an extent, represented that same dynamic.
There aren't many 40+ minute videos on KZfaq worth every damn second. The human attention span isn't built to be fixated on one object that long. Yet, the human brain has a way of realizing pure human emotion and often gravitates towards this. There was laughter as he recalled some of his finest moments in the NBA, inspiration as he spoke on the change he wanted to reflect on his community -- both in Virginia and Philadelphia -- and frustration as he lamented on the stereotype and image labeled upon him, one he was never able to escape. There were even tears as he spoke on the tug-of-war relationship with Larry Brown he admitted made him mature as a man both on and off the court.
Even as all in attendance listened to the life that was, at the time, one of the NBA's most electrifying names, they were afforded the opportunity to experience life in Allen's shoes. Reflecting on John Thompson's father-like role in his life (so you know, Iverson proudly admitted his father played a significant role in his life albeit in and out of prison), he recalled a Big East road game -- in Villanova of all places. The ill-will of his bowling alley brawl years earlier was still fresh on people's minds at this point. Thompson threatened officials he would take his entire team off the court and forfeit the game if a sign was not removed. The sign said, "Allen Iverson: The Next MJ OJ," with several figures of prisoners in orange jumpsuits.
Stories of this ilk explain why Iverson walked in basketball courts in Philly, New York, Chicago, San Antonio, Los Angeles, Miami and more with a chip on his shoulder. No scene scared him because he had already witnessed the evil men do. This fearlessness led to the adoption of his rebel-esque "me against the world" mentality on the basketball court.
I remember telling someone probably four or five years ago I had never seen any pro NBAer play with so much unabashed passion with the exception of Kevin Garnett. In his own words, he played the game hard, but never dirty, and players around the league respected him for that. In turn, certain ones earned his respect. Vince Carter -- yes, at one time, Vince was one of the most exciting players in the world -- was high in Allen's book; probably stemming from their instant classic seven-game series in 2001 that saw them trade 50-point onslaughts. Shaquille O'Neal was the one he spoke most highly of because Shaq showed him love from the moment he stepped in the league. Other than a few other names, he had no problem revealing most of his peers were "corny."
Yet, probably the most prophetic moment of the interview came when Iverson mentioned LeBron. Still only in his third season at the time, A.I. noted James as one of the younger players he admired. His words of advice, however, would only prove drastically eerie some four years later. "I always let LeBron know off top. Dog, they love you right now. They love you right now. But please believe me, the first incident, the first time something happen, they are waiting, man."
Through all the nonsense, Allen Iverson remained Allen Iverson. For better, it paints him in history as one of the most dynamic players in league history and possibly the best "little man" to ever play. But, if I know Chuck like I've come to know him through basketball and interviews, subjecting him to simply a "little man" is doing the same thing people did his entire life -- label him. He's a basketball player. He's a lightening rod for controversy. He's his own bank of memories for those who remember basketball in the late 90′s, early 2000′s. Everyone's got a favorite Iverson memory like everyone has a favorite cousin. And like he preached to Stephen A., he was a human being sporting the same emotions as the people who paid to see him play every night in cities across America.
For worse, being Allen Iverson remains a stigma of selfishness and someone unwilling to conform.
Either way, he was and will always be comfortable in his own skin. And that's more than many people who woke up this morning can say.

He was right but shows a lot of loyalty in Iverson by staying in philly after all the BS he has to deal with he said he didn't want to let down the fans and kids that cheered for him every night I have to respect that. Also kind of weird nobody else in the NBA cares that much about loyalty anymore including lebron

shokemrock vidz LMAO, you believe he put his wife out naked despite the fact that there is ZERO credible evidence for it and both AI and his wife denied it. The only person who said that happened was AI's cousin who made a 911 call 15 hours after the alleged incident (when AI was not even around) and 1 minute after talking to a personal injury attorney about how much money he can make off of the situation. His cousin changed the story 5 times under oath. This is the same cousin that accused AI of breaking into his house with a gun, but when the actual facts came out we learn that 1) AI had a key to his cousin's apartment, 2) the cousin had told AI he is always welcome to come whenever he wants, 3) AI pays his rent, and 4) his cousin never actually saw a gun. He's not sure what he saw. He said it could have been a pager or a cell phone. And yet since you want to believe the worst about Iverson, you would rather believe his asshole cousin who proved to have no credibility. If you hate the man, then fine, but why the hell would you want to comment? Your opinion on Iverson is clearly flawed and not based on reason or facts. I bet you didn't even watch the entire interview (if you even watched any of it at all).
@theresamahfouz790
@theresamahfouz790 10 жыл бұрын
shokemrock vidz LOL! Do you even re-read your comments to see how arrogant and douchey you sound? So you come on a video that you didn't watch just to post multiple hate posts on a player that you really know very little about (if you are being honest with yourself). I've just refuted many of the things you said in these posts b/c a lot of it was complete baloney. You are judgmental and have branded Iverson as a bad person without even looking deeper to see the truth in what really happened. Then you brag about being an all state hooper and basically word your post implying that this means you love the game more than anybody else on here and your opinion is more valid. Let me tell you something. I played basketball in high school. You know why? Because of Allen Iverson. He inspired me. It became my favorite sport. He played with so much heart, passion, and toughness, and at his size accomplished things nobody else thought he could do and that made me want to do it too. I wanted to be a collegiate athlete because of AI, and I ended up accomplishing that goal. Then I realized my path in life is law and medicine after I got badly injured, but to this day, AI is one of my childhood inspirations. He did not poison the sport. He brought an authenticity that the sport had never seen. He made the crossover cool, and he paved the way for smaller, slashing players. Without AI, there is no D-Rose. D-Rose models his game after him. Fact.

Sounds like we got a big iverson hater over here I met him myslef personally when he played the golden state warriors and torched us by the way lol. But I was a young kid only about 11 years old And my pops knew he was my favorite player and asked him for a autograph iverson talked to me and my dad for about 30-45 minutes he was just real and genuine great person. Had a smile on his face and wasn't a bit rude at all made me feel like he was a superhero to an 11 year old white kid from the Bay Area. Quit hating on a legend and a good person he will always be Remebered for his heart on and off the court as well as brilliant and talented play. Wish you nothing but the best ivo first ballot HOF!!!!

It was way different in the 90's and early 2000's. And it's the way he talked that people/media had a problem with. Because he's real and says what's on his mind. He passionate and sometimes that passion over flows and people can't handle it. They want him to talk this way, walk this way, wear that, don't wear this. And AI ain't change for nobody. Nor will he. And true AI fans love this man just the way he is. I know I do. You start trying to take this and twist him into that and you rip this man away piece be piece. And then you don't have the man that's going out there and drops 35 a night. Bringing everything he got to the court night in and night out. And this dude loves his kids like you wouldn't believe. That pissed me off so I couldn't imagine the way he feels about it. This dude real and loyal to the bone man. Him and his wife been together for 20 years now. If he did the things people say happened he'd be divorced. This dude a warrior and won't back down from nobody. No my man a HoFer.

AI's advise to the younger players (LBJ) is like a foretelling of what would happen. Leaving Cleveland and becoming one of the most hated players from being one of the most loved. I don't care what people say, AI is pretty intelligent.

It was way different in the 90's and early 2000's. And it's the way he talked that people/media had a problem with. Because he's real and says what's on his mind. He passionate and sometimes that passion over flows and people can't handle it. They want him to talk this way, walk this way, where that, don't wear this. And AI ain't change nobody. Nor will he. And true AI fans love this man the way he is. I know I do.

Larry Brown was the worst thing to ever happen to Iverson. He should have had a coach like Phil Jackson. Phil could have helped him on and off the court.

Larry was"special". He did real good with garbage teams, but at end of the day, he had issues with Reggie on Indiana, with D. Robinson on Sant Antonio, with Marbury on NY and on Philly with AI. He want to be the star of the teams always...

AI, in no form or fashion was perfect as a player, role model or anything like that but, he was humble most of the time and he’s is definitely up there with the greatest of all time.

I forgot how dominated Iverson & Shaq were during 2004 & 2005 year, I was soo focused on pistons & spurs & Dwayne wade cause they had a better year, WE really didn't realize what we had with shaq & ai in early 2000's legends for sure

AI was my childhood hero I wish they woulda gotten him some REAL HELP cause I feel he woulda won a championship!! AI gave all of himself in Philly all the time 👏👏 for one of the REALEST NBA PLAYERS EVER..Even on my son's NBA 2k game his starting PG is none other than AI himself, so my love for AI rubbed off on my son..
