You are doing a ton of work on restoring that tractor. The detail and attention you are giving is awesome.

I just bought a WD. It was well used by the same farmer for most of its life. It runs great but could use some tightening up of the levers/pedals. Your video has answered many of my questions. Thank you for putting this video together . Very informative!

Well I'll be darned, I had just assumed the clutch and right brake pedal came with bushings. Guess I've never had them off the shaft. Nice repair!

No factory bushings, but at least there were grease zerks. Nothing where the shaft goes through the tractor though and I cant figure out how to get the tractor clamped in the mill! I think it will be ok once e everything is assembled and linkage hooked up

Good call on boring them out and adding the bushings 🙂👍 those sloppy pedals would drive me crazy also. 😂

It's Soooo much better now Zane! It's those kind of little things that really make the difference in the end. That's why I don't like calling a power wash and paint job a "restoration"

You should have added a grease fitting for the hand clutch. I also will be restoring some Allis tractors a WD reverst loader tractor my dad and I built in 1975. His first tractor he bought a 1959 D17, A CA wide front with a Woods belly mower. A WD wide front with power steering. I have Classic Tractor Fever. I live by Owtonna,Mn.

Man o man I can't believe it's been 3 weeks since this posted. It's taking Me forever to watch you guys and comment right now. The tools you have at your disposal amaze me man😂. Seems like everytime I watch your doing a job I'd have to outsource to get done and you have everything you need it your shop! She's coming along nicely though! Can't wait to get back to having a hobby and working on stuff again. Few more weeks and im free (for a while).

Very worthwhile to restore. Equivalent machine new today would be $30K plus.

It was a little bit of work, but it’s gonna be totally worth it in the end. I’m with you and Zane in that those sloppy pedals would have driven me bonkers. By the way CONGRATULATIONS on hitting 300 subscribers Jason!!!!🤙. Way to go!

Thanks Cody! Evidently I need to stick with the tractor videos, they seem to be the ones drawing the views and subs. That was never my plan for the channel because I still plan on doing a little bit of everything and anything. I guess the core group like you guys are the ones I want to have around anyway! Bout time for you to kick out another video, got anything in the works?

Sparks Fire and Baling Wire Guys are definitely liking them and you’ll be at 1,000 subs before ya know it, but do whatever makes ya happy. It’s your channel, so you can do what you want😁. I haven’t put a video out yet cause I haven’t sold this dang suburban🤣. It’s been almost a month trying to sell it on different websites and parking it on the side of the road. I’ve already dropped the price 1K, but still haven’t gotten rid of it🤷🏼‍♂️. If I stuff the whole truck with toilet paper maybe I could get rid of it then🤣🤷🏼‍♂️?

When I rebuilt my wd45, I used oversized 4 and 1/8 inch sleeves and Pistons. I also use pistons that gave me a higher compression ratio. That brought me up to a little over 50 hp The horsepower helps because I put on a loader on one end and a backhoe on the other. That doubled the weight. I also had the rods and mains line bored so I got rid of all the shims.
@sparksfireandbalingwire8467

From my research so far, the oversized sleeves and pistons are all you can get. I haven't found anyone that offers standard size.
@ersinc9080
@ersinc9080 4 жыл бұрын
I just took a look and I couldn't find any standard 4" either. I understand why. A little less weight, same cost and more power. I don't see this helping you out, but I have 4 good 4" pistons if you need them. I took them out of a WD block (201 CID). They have rings wrist pins and rods.

Thanks for the videos. I have a 1957 WD 45 with many of the same issues that I'm trying to get back in usable shape. Where you able to buy those bushings or did you make them?
@sparksfireandbalingwire8467

They are standard sized bushings I picked up from the local welding shop. It really tightened everything up nice. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos!

I never had to mess with mine, so I didn't do any videos on it, buy search for videos on the hand clutch. You most likely have something wrong there.

You have two broken springs for breaks that I noticed...but awesome work idk if the busshings on mine were replaced but there's no slop in any pedal

Yep, I haven't ordered the springs yet. The pedals dont have bushings from the factory, I just bored mine to fix the wollered out holes and used bushings to get them back to the original 1 inch hole.

You have a lot of professional skills. I recommend you put a turbo on that WD 45 after the rebuild. You can attract a wider audience of people, and increase views. There are kits available.

No turbo on this one. I do have a future project in mind that might accidentally get one though!
