While I was trying to comfort my 8 month old in the middle of the night last night without nursing him, I had this wave of thoughts that helped me get through it, which you touched upon. The hard things in life develop us the most (even as adults). I have heard that after children have fevers and viruses, they have growth and developmental spurts. As long as the child has love during the day and you know they are safe at night, helping them getting through a night while they learn to comfort themselves is the first step to helping them grow. I did not sleep train my first child. He never napped, and he resisted sleep at all levels. I was against cry it out methods and I just never sought help. It took him 6 years to actually sleep through the night.. He still has night terrors occasionally. He is not great at self soothing for anything. Maybe it has no connection, and I know that all children are different, but I have thoughts that maybe if I would have stuck it through and not just nursed him when he fussed, that he would have developed those skills. At the time it was so much easier for everyone to keep he peace. All in all, we all have our reasons for what we do, but this time I do want this child to be able to self soothe and I will keep seeking ways for us to nip this in the bud that is best for my son. Also, you are doing GREAT and thank you for sharing!

My stepson didnt start sleeping on his own until he was 5 but we had to get him to do it bc he definitely wasn’t happy about it. It was hard for us to sleep comfortably and didnt have our privacy. For baby #2 we really would love to sleep train and implement the newborn class tips to prep for independent sleep. I love the idea of the baby learning to be secure and feeling safe in their own bed while knowing momma is always nearby if needed. Everyone sleeps better and they learn to self soothe. Definitely considering buying both courses!

I had problems of my own...but fun fact in regards of night feeds, I’ve seen and learned from a doctor who specializes in breastfeeding and she’s said that nursing your baby is the best thing to do to help them go back to bed BECAUSE there’s melatonin inside the breastmilk. Which is why they sleep right after those night feeds. (PS: you are an AMAZING MOM. I can’t believe someone said that to you!!).

100%. for the first 6 months i believe that boob solves everything and there's just nothing wrong with always putting your baby to the breast. i understand many moms can't do this though if they are going back to work and other people are watching their baby. but for me and my three kids they were always at the breast. for the record my two oldest are 4 and 3 now and no longer breastfeeding. it's not forever, but it really helps them so much in those early months.

Better sleep can help us as parents bond with our babies better….words straight from baby’s doctor. My healthy and happy 14-month-old still gets in one great nap a day and a restful 12 hours at night. The times he’s woken up crying since doing the ABCs of sleep, I know he truly has needed me due to a fever/illness. Taking Cara Babies is AMAZING, and I’m so happy you’re sharing your positive experience with others. Every sleep-deprived parent looking for help/answers deserves to know ❤️

My baby woke so often at 4 months when he previously slept so great as a newborn thanks to the newborn class. I started the ABCs as soon as he was 5 months old; the first three nights were rough, but it has been magic ever since. At 14 months, he still gets an extremely restful 12 hours every night. You’re doing absolutely nothing wrong. It can get so hard during those sleep regressions. Hang in there ❤️

My baby is almost 10 months and idk what we are going through. I think it's developmental, she's starting to stand on her own and walking along things. She can wakeup 3-4 times a night and either be crying mad, sitting and playing or just kinda whining. Either way I'm exhausted! She was sleeping through the night perfectly for a while. Oh and she's also getting the two top teeth. This is my 4th baby and I still feel like i don't know what I'm doing sometimes. 😅 Oh and if they think you should give your baby away for them crying it out, wait till they have a toddler that fights their nap...whole different ball game.

I've co-slept and done breastsleeping since day (night) one and my baby basically stopped waking up at night around 3 months old. She still feeds during the night but in her sleep (and most time I'm sleeping too, just waking up every now and then to switch boob). It's the best ever 😍 no sleep training needed, no crying, happy mommy and baby 🥰 She even tought herself to fall asleep around 7 months old, just from one day to another 😃 no training at all 🥰

@@nidhi1124 yes exactly, and that's still how we do it now at almost 17 months 😊 this is really common in most countries outside the US. Tip is to read up about safe co-sleeping. We adapted it to fit our lives though 😊 with safe co-sleeping there are actually even less incidents of cot-death than if babies sleep in cribs. Breastfeed was and is amazing for both me and my child. It is really good for milk supply and it means both mother and child gets as much sleep as possible. My daughter stopped waking up in the night around 3months. She'd learnt how to find my breasts in her sleep, or she would start moving slightly and I just moved her myself to my breast and she would nurse in her sleep.

It's SO hard dealing with sleep regressions, hang in there mama! As far as his bedtime routine we usually do a bath then lotion and jammies then he has a bottle and we put him down in his crib sleepy but still awake and he falls asleep on his own! We used to feed him/rock him to sleep also but cut that out with the sleep training. I still rock him to sleep for his naps though

The class does work for reflux and colic babies. I downloaded the newborn class and it worked for me. She has a section about reflux babies. Unfortunately I found out that Cara gave thousands to the Trump campaigns so I stopped supporting her (personal choice). A back up method that is close to hers is the Ferber method. Good luck! P.S. I gave up dairy and gluten and my babies reflux has improved significantly. Just an idea if you are breastfeeding.

So I have done the first two classes too and we are like you and just this 4 month sleep regression has hit us hard and he just has literally regressed so bad. I’m nervous about spending the money again on the most expensive class she offers and it not work. Also, with the first two classes she uses the binky a lot, does she still incorporate that in ABCs of sleep? I just need some sleep. I have a toddler as well and that’s another reason why I’m nervous about letting him cry because I don’t want to disturb her too as well as my husband.

If you don't want to buy the ABCs you can find the Ferber Method online and it's basically the same thing. In TCB she just has a lot of extras and walks you through it but i'm sure you could find a youtube video walking you through the ferber method. that being said I think as long as you are consistant and really stick to the program it will work. I think I have to start this 😖 I’m terrified but my son is 8 months and is now just like yours was waking up 10 times just to nurse. He falls asleep on his own but just wakes up so many times a night to eat 😩 and now he is starting to know the difference between the boob and the soother if I try to sneak it in 😂😅

Did you just continue the steps all night long on your first night? Trying it as of last night and we made it to 3 am…

Everything you said about getting up 10 times a night and the only thing that will stop them from crying was the boob is soooo true!!! My baby boy is 7 months, I tried the Ferber method twice, but I couldn’t handle it. I wish he would have only cried for 20 min. He did for 3 hrs straight until I ended it . He was getting raspy from crying so much. I wish I had some trick. He used to sleep in the docatot for 7-8 hrs when he was around 4 months, as soon as we tried the crib around 6 months that ended 😔 now we co sleep so he isn’t in the docatot, (pediatrician said needed to switch so he could learn to rollover)but he wants to nurse like 5 times cause he knows I’m there. So I’m not getting sleep.

Holy moly... why do people feel the need to speak so negatively about someone’s parenting choice. Keep doing you, mama!

No need to let your baby cry at all. She talks a lot and says nothing.
