I just checked and yes I did get that wrong, apologies, I was misremembering based on the Hbomberguy video about Fallout New Vegas which references the Disco Elysium developers' award speech in passing, that was an unfortunate conflation on my part.

An argument for feminist Barbie that my partner uses is that back when Barbie started getting a bunch of accessories and jobs was when it was still extremely frowned upon for women for have their own financial stability, so Barbie not being dependent on A Man(tm) for permission to shop was actually a power move. Which on the one hand I can get, because it wasn't all that long ago that women couldn't even legally have their own bank accounts and credit cards without their father or husband signing off on it at the bank, but at the same time it's a pretty sick perversion of what feminism is supposed to be. Thanks, capitalism, I hate it here.

I think what bothers me most is just how continuously loud these grifters are. I keep hoping that I'm just in a bubble and that they don't have as much influence on society outside of the internet.

Probably not on society, but there are occasional breakouts. Steven Bannon using GamerGate to buoy Breitbart's online presence and trade upward into a Trump campaign and cabinet position comes to mind.

I actually saw Barbie when it was in theaters because my mom likes Barbie and I wasn't doing anything. Let me say it does have a clear message within the story. Like its very clearly a feminism talk but it wasn't bad at all. I actually liked the movie for what it was. And me and my mom had a lot to discuss after that.

Those anti-woke thumbnails are nightmare fuel. Maybe that’s the point, but damn, a lot of them are straight up painful to look at. Nerdrotic is the worst offender, imo.

As a cis woman who love Barbie i think TurfNation's take about Barbie and feminism is that she on release was a very scandalous doll after most dolls for girls were created as toddlers or babies to learn how to nurture but Barbie was... Well about adult woman, her career, her social life with countless female friends and her boyfriend Ken, her dresses and everything that in 50s was consideret to be vanity and bad for young girls. So yeah Barbie's idea upon creation was pretty woke.

It's very hard to read your chat when white background. I recommend putting a simple transparent grey square over the chat area, that way it helps contrast against the white background when they occur.

I don't get the hate personally. I got into New Vegas a few years back and still consider it one of the best games I've ever played. However I started playing Fo4 a few months ago and I can't remember the last time I had this much fun with a game. I've already sunk over 300 hours into the game since March and the game just makes me so happy. Some people just seem allergic to happiness and fun I guess.

@FelisImpurrator It's a common Falliut 4 joke, it's exactly like the more common meme of Steam reviews with 2000+ hours saying they don't recommend the game regardless of how much time they've sunk into it.

I don't like the fallout show because of poor writing, cinematography, retcons and lacking sfx, they dislike it because of "muh wokery". We are not the same. 😂

@@kiddynamo66 it didn't remind me of the games and it came off as a low budget fan project rather than something with financial backing. Someone has already made a video covering much of what I disliked so I'll try to find it now.
