This ended up being a relatively tight conversation going over some pretty important issues, so I thought I'd upload it in full from my end. Apologies for the audio problems, I should have them worked out by next stream.

Hey guys! I just wanna say sorry again for the audio issues, I *think* I found the issue and resolved it for this week's streams but you can let me know in any future uploads if you notice anything. I'm looking forward to upgrading my recording setup anyway in the future but obviously issues like this are still frustrating. This is quite a long upload because it's the entire unabridged conversation to keep everything in context. I imagine Dane will have more specific and shorter segments if you want to check those out over at his channels, in addition to all the great stuff he already does. As always, it was a pleasure. Glad you solved it! I was going to suggest it was in the Sounds Settings in regards to allowing applications to have control over your microphone volume.

Any sane thoughts on In Praise of Shadows "Bad Conservative Horror" vid? Dude made a call out because he has attracted a right wing troll crowd, and within the week has removed it, his community page is mobbed with backlash.

He took it down so the full original might not be viewable now. If I could watch the whole thing at once maybe I could give an opinion but I was kind of preoccupied as it happened so I missed most of it, I've only seen clips.

Well the video has been reuploaded through another channel for archiving. Basically he called out those who had some association with Brandon Herrera on a shooting range. Turkey Tom, Brandon Buckingham, Donut Operator, and Wendigoon. And he still got his ass handed to him. I have yet to see what he said but it got bad to where another drama youtuber, williemac now accused him of defending a child sex abuser but I hadn't wanted to watch that since WillieMac comes off to me as a centrist drama fool.

It was a poorly argued and ill advised video, which was made out of frustration over the reaction to another poorly argued and ill advised video. I think there's a sensible argument you can find buried in the Hills Have Eyes video if you remove the part about how killing "colonizers" is okay and steelman what's left, but the Bad Conservative Horror video is in every way a misstep. Actually, thinking about it more; the fact that he took that position and then made a video where he primarily argues that people are bad by insinuation, often by association with guns at all, is wild. Not sure what the best case scenario is.

@@Death2Capital Ah the sanest person I can disagree with yet. Lets agree that the vid (BCHM) is poorly argued and ill advised. I'll lose any argument about guns, so lets agree there too. And the guilt by association IS wild, although the Spacey Expo, Blumhouse, Late Night and Scream 7 bits are appropriate given the title. Still sorting through the drama, hype to talk film. That coverage of leftist themes throughout Craven's work is lit and no, IPoS didn't say killing the colonizers is "okay". Skip to 30 min for that bit and 55:3 for the Craven quote that yes, they're meant to be representative of colonizers. It's not a stretch. And no, IPoS didn't say killing the family is okay in the HHE franchise vid. The first HHE only takes 20 min of it and is easily summed up in that later Craven quote. It's what I'm looking for that you're entirely agreeable but repeat the "he said the cannibals are the good guys" bit after watching both vids. I feel like I'm missing something here. BCHM is explicitly about him not doing so and being harassed anyways. We get countless examples of the latter. You're not sure what the best case scenario is. I'm at a loss because your sincerity for better is steeped in the bad faith that part 2 of BCHM showcases.

@@jaymenjanssens720 At 16:10, after a quote from Jupiter, he says, "In a way, are they not justified for their actions? The hill people can be representative of anything you want them to be really. They could be Native Americans, and the hills themselves can be allegorical of them being forced back on (?) to reservations. They could be Black Americans that have, for hundreds of years, been forced to live within a dehumanizing system that has balances in place to ensure that they never get ahead. They can be anyone who has been a victim of hundreds of years of horrifically violent white wealthy educated 'progress.' But the tragic and unfortunately logical thing about The Hills Have Eyes is that this plot to rise up against them doesn't work. And that isn't Craven saying that it shouldn't." After this he says that in the struggle at the end, where Doug and Mars are fighting reveals a savagery in Doug as well. And that's how his discussion of the original Hills Have Eyes ends before going off into discussion of monopolies and Wes Craven's other work and Craven's own experience making films. This is the part everyone is talking about, so if he later says something to the contrary, after half an hour or something, it's a poorly argued and poorly structured video; unless you have a different reading. He's mostly upset in the BCHM video that people read him as saying minorities are like hillbilly cannibals, which is a bad and uncharitable reading.
