I think that was a homage to the original movie, where they wanted to safe his left arm (or was it the right?). Also I liked the 2014 movie. They implemented some things that was supposed to be in the original movie. Like a fast and acrobatic robocop.

@@zerogo9669 I think it was his left arm, because the whole point of having Murphy's right arm blown off was that it was his link to his son, with the TJ Lazer gun slinging thing; aka one of his most human charactetistics. This wasn't really in the 2014 remake and it's an important part of murphy's humanity . They forgot all about the poetic metaphors in The Paul Verhooven original . It was about updating the effects for a 21st century audience , but at the cost of all the richness and character from the 1987 original.

A long time ago, back in 1987, i was first introduced to this movie by my stepfather, who has been deceased for a while now. I was still fairly young at the time. Anyway, i did not see the movie in the theatre, but instead, i watched it at home on a vcr deck. The first parts of the movie were really gorey and i was scared, not knowing what to expect! Well, anyway, i watched it till the end, and i was quite thrilled about it. After watching it, i felt i could be a Robocop, too! I mean, it made you feel like you could relate to the movie because of the way it makes you feel! Robocop made you believe you could become a cyborg, but i dont know if that's possible or what. Back then, it wasn't so, and even now, it might not be true. It would be like a modern-day Frankenstein movie! Well, my overall thoughts of the movie i loved it, even if it was violent. Its a memorable iconic movie worth seeing time and time again! 😅

I remember in the tv series, he had all sorts of gadgets from his left leg like bombs that stick to walls or a riot control foam that was really slippery and stopped people from standing up. His feet also had spikes that let him plant himself into the ground so he could use his body as a barricade to stop vehicles that crash into him.

I read that the black parts in RoboCop are "soft armor" but are still bulletproof and fireproof while the silver pieces are titanium. Which means attacking the joints and those parts are his weaknesses.

of course titanium is less durable than steal so you can easily attack those plates they are weaker than A4 plates

This is not quite accurate. Robocop won't have been made of pure Titanium because in its element form Titanium is only as durable as mild steel, but Titanium alloys are what are used by militaries and aerospace industries because the alloys are as durable as hardened steel, yet weigh 45% less. Then again it also depends what you mean by "durable." In terms of "strength" - the ability to withstand being pulled before its breaks, such as in a steel cable vs a Titanium cable, the Titanium cable will hold much more weight than steel before snapping. In this sense Titanium is far stronger than steel. Russian submarines were built from Titanium alloys because they could then deploy submarines which could dive much deeper than steel submarines. Titanium alloys strength really shows in this arena. But if by "durable" you mean "hardness" then Titanium alloys and hardened steels are similar. Titanium alloy is a superior material to use for Robocop because its only half the weight of steel, yet will offer similar protection from firearms. Titanium also has a higher melting point and excellent corrosion resistance.

There is a game coming in seven days from this comment called Robocop: Rogue City. The free demo is available on Steam with the first two areas. I had my doubts going in, but it's very faithful to the first two movies (it takes place before the third film). It's like Deus Ex in some ways too if you remember those games.

I kind of feel the same but the Joel Kinnaman remake should act as a warning from history about upgrading effects and adding new technology . There's good bits to the 2014 remake but ultumately it was a waste of time because it robbed the movie of everything which made it so good. The ultraviolence wasn't just for its own sake. It was a metaphor for extreme contrasts that the Dutch Director Paul Verhooven saw on American tv when he moved to the USA.

Peter Weller did such a masterful job of body acting in the original movies. He was given instruction in dance, etc., and how to move both with mechanical preciseness and fluidity. It's hard to appreciate until you see other actors in other Robocop movies try to do it. But Weller was perfection.

If you don't know what the Directive 4 means, the Directive 4 was one of the RoboCop's prime directive that makes RoboCop is not allowing him to engage against OCP senior officer, Ralph jones. Any actions against him will result him getting his system shutdowned

Dick Jones. And it wasn't specific to just Jones. Directive 4, as Jones stated, "Any attempt to arrest a senior officer of OCP results in shutdown." Anyone who was a higher up couldn't be arrested. That would also include the Old Man and anybody else who was a senior officer.

I am so glad they made a game based off of this. I have beaten it so many times, but it never gets old. If you haven’t played the RoboCop game, I highly recommend it.

Tell you what, that death scene in the RoboCop movie directors cut in the 1980's holy f that was brutal and you felt that. The way the gang were getting off on torturing him with gun shots to the body armor. You felt that. New movie lost all that emotion and you really cared about him and what he went through and could relate.

One of the best fight scenes. Apparently ED-209 was very painful after he accidentally shot himself in the arm. The robot was shaking violently, and he had a short circuit from pain 6:49 ⚡🤖😆

That is unrealistic. They try to shot Robo even if that do not success, and then standing in place and get shot. In reality just use RPG-7 and that will destroy Robocop in one shot.
