Love the robotic "squeals" of pain and/or frustration, a nice dystopian touch. Murphy was being a tech nightmare for them. True human vs machine.

In the original he couldn't stop him at first because his program wouldn't allow him to because he still worked at the company. It's only after he was fired that the program lets Murphy take him down. I like how in this ending you can see him physically rejecting the machine programming to stop him. It shows he's more in control and human.

Actually, it wasn't Robocop who got fired in the original movie, it was the evil Vice President who was fired by the older CEO. Once the evil VP was fired and no longer an employee, Robocop was free to take him down.

Only because his partner had his back, with his life. Michael K Williams has his guys ram into the robot firing at his friend, then runs into gunfire between the robot and his friend to protect him. No way he knew for sure he wouldn't get hit. Then he saves him again by taking out the douchebag about to kill him and his backup douchebag getting shot in the process. Michael K Williams is the MVP in this flick for sure.

This movie is definitely the better ones in case of remakes. It didn't shit all over the original like a lot of 'reimagined' new take lately. Relatively good actors and not bad writing. But the missing part for me was the gore from the original. The acid melted bad guys, the shoot off limbs, those were part of the experience. Also this city didn't really seemed so bad that needed a robocop. The streets were clean (kinda) and ordered and it didn't look for me like a crime infested hell hole where the only option is a mechanical police unit to prevent lifes. All in all it's not a bad movie or bad remake at all, just a needless one.

You're right. I found the movie halfway good. The actors were well-chosen, even if Joel Kinnaman acted a bit...wooden...but it lacked the grittiness of the original. It was all style, but not much substance. Everything was far too shiny, too blizy...the city so nice, Robocops armor was reflective like a steinway piano, he had all those shiny gizmos the original had not (special motorcycle, special guns, etc) and the "Cop" in Robo always acted...detached from the police force, while the original never left any doubt he is just one of the cops.

Sorry, I will have to totally disagree. The biggest part is his damn visor keeps going up and down. The whole point in the original one is when he removes his eye shield is when he becomes Murphy again. I never got the feeling that he was a product like the original movie. I also never gotten the bad ass feel of robocop the I got from the original movie. He also doesn't feel like a hero (ray of hope) like the original. Plus the bad guys in the original had a lot better motives. If the original didn't exist than maybe I would see it in a better light.
@kageyame

The question is that they presented a more broad scenario da just rampart crime, robocop was basically a marketing tool to allow omnicorp to deploy "homeland" robots, something thats wasn't being accepted. I also liked that the ed-series are not comically useless machinery, but a effective equipment that rises a lot of social concerns for is brutal efficiency.

The problem with this movie isn't that it's bad, it's not, it's just completely forgettable. I remember none of the lines from this movie. The original Robocop I got multiple lines from. It's like they tried to take the 80's, remove the camp and fun, and came up with this. Also, while I really like Joel Kinnaman in a number of his roles, he's no Peter Weller.
@chaff5
@chaff5 9 ай бұрын
It's forgettable because the original was a parody of a movie with a strong message for those who got it; capitalism will swallow everything. The bought the cops and literally owned the city, making it a hellscape for everyone but the 1%. They threw all of that away when they made this into a simple action movie about a robot cop out for revenge.
@jexelbur6872
@jexelbur6872 9 ай бұрын
What makes this movie forgettable is that it toned down a lot of the elements from the 1987 movie. This movie is less violent, less gritty, the people are less hostile and aggressive (ironically speaking), and the environment looks too adequate. The original Robocop didn’t just have action and thriller, it gave a reason for there to be Robocop. Like crime was unapologetic and uncontrollable in the 1987 version which makes Robocop’s presence relevant and incredible.

5:01 It's amazing that they kept this take when it's so terribly bad. The two officers are supposed to be shooting each other at the same time, yet they pull the triggers a quarter-second out of sync. Not normally too much of a problem, except the OCP officer waits to flinch and fall "long" after the bullet would have hit him, as if they had indeed been perfectly in sync. I don't mean to disrespect the staff behind the remake because I like the director and the fantastic actors. In the old days, the hero climbed the tower in blazes of glory. But not even that was done right on this remake. I think the pace or the sequences are just too slow or too easy, I don't know but its off. A much older movie doing better than nowadays movies is a thing for study.

I wonder which ComicBook industry does the character hero RoboCop belong to?

Boom! Studios. But they haven't done anything with it for about 5 years.

@@lepke1979 I think (BOOM! STUDIOS) should think about making a computer-animated (ROBOCOP) show series now.
