When Nicole Cheslock (Papay) takes the mic- it's always a treat- but, when her husband and dad coordinated this surprise for her at her own wedding, it was amazing- She rocked Journey's, "Don't Stop Believing" and the feeling in the room was amazing!! Enjoy! Nicole, thanks for choosing and trusting us with the precious moments and memories of your wedding day- it was an honor!
I just wish they would have given me a little heads up because I would have two cameras and a tripod set up. This was late in the reception and with no heads up. Oh well...it's amazing and awesome!

A few years ago, I was chaperoning an eighth-grade dance at the school I was teaching in at the time. The two songs the kids went the most bonkers over were Don't Stop Believing, and YMCA. One of the parents leaned over to me and was like "Where did they learn those songs?" I replied "I don't know, but maybe there's hope for them yet."

@@allsetcreationsvacationsbyDT im walking down the street in RVA and we have a prominent spot where weddings are hosted on the block over. I'm walking with my dog captain america and I heard this beat hit as I approached closer. I got to sing with the wedding and they danced with me through the gate to journey don't stop believing. Literally happened a half hour ago and the bride and groom were in a duet. It was beautiful, then I stumbled across THIS! Fate is wild! Idk, but I think I caught the metaphorical bouquet! She was amazing and I hope her and her hubby are happy and keeping strong! Love ya, stay safe, spread joy.

As others have pointed out, that drummer is nailing the original drum part. The off beats between the cymbal and toms are the way that Journey's Steve Smith played it. Kudos to keeping it real!

What an amazing voice she has and the drummer did an awesome job! Looks like a fun wedding and great guests with everyone having fun. Her Dad is so proud of her and encourages her. I was raised by narcissists so I’ve never had this kind of encouragement. Instead, I would have been criticized for having a dress that’s too tight, cut too low, was too expensive, etc. I’m glad this bride has a Dad who’s actually proud and supportive of her.

@@Sinjinator Maybe or maybe not. My cousin is a lawyer. She trained at Juliard so she is an incredible singer, but she was not quite good enough to make it on Broadway or as a professional singer. So she sang at her wedding and had a friend (who is on Broadway) also sing at her wedding, but that was pretty much it for her. She went to law school, got her degree, and moved in that direction instead. Apparently you can have a very good voice yet not be good enough to be a professional singer (or at least be good enough to make a living at it). She is actually a news anchor for a local Fox News station today.

I found this instead: hooksandharmony.com/40-songs-that-didnt-make-the-top-40/ Also, perhaps it has more to do with the region of the country...where I lived it was played nearly ad-nauseam on the local Pop Channel... Finally, I’d also concede it could be a matter of being a fan or not, you’d really notice when it was being played if you LOVED the band/song, or just dismiss if you weren’t in to it that much...anyway, is it REALLY worth busting my chops over it? @@JDoe001 the only point I was trying to make is that it wasn't a ubiquitous hit, not one that I noticed, anyway, back then. Maybe it was more so in your area. It was not the "it" song, like Betty Davis Eyes, or Leather and Lace. But .... I am impressed that it has become MORE POPULAR over time. The song was ahead of it's time. The younger generations love the way the song builds.

Open Arms was the “big hit” off that album. Don’t Stop Believin’ was indeed a mid-level hit during that time. Who’s Crying Now also dropped off the Escape album. Some songs just catch on after the fact. This song is an example of that. Journey also had a long line of singles from the mid 70s into the late 80s as well. Because of this, Dont Stop Believin’ kinda got lost in the mix and at that time, got overshadowed by Open Arms.

One thing though, at the very least it's CRINGY to watch her dad kiss her on the lips not just once. At first, I thought it's the groom kissing the bride... But it's her father...?! Wow. Disturbing to me too if the groom was me. Just my two cents. Peace.

The drummer is playing the exact pattern that Steve Smith played on the original recording, and those folks are dancing because of his groove. Good going drummer and that lady can sing, great timing and phrasing and lung power.
