I had to subscribe......BECAUSE you were sensitive enough, and knowledgeable enough, to express how even without understanding lyrics, the music of a song can rip through the time/space continuum and reach down into your very soul. Now, I know you will probably not believe me, but just wait till you react to more of Dimash's performances--each and every single one will not only affect you at the deepest level, but will also somehow surprise you as well. I am NOT exaggerating--remember my words! LOL Others will undoubtedly come on and let you know more of his background, growing up in his beloved Kazakhstan, where he began classical training at age 5. And has subsequently immersed himself in many, many other styles, from which to chose SO many tools from his musical voice toolbox. He is actually CREATING A NEW GENRE OF MUSIC--one where he seamlessly blends 2-3-4+ styles of music into one song, whether it be classical, folk, and pop for one......or rock, jazz, and contemporary, for another, etc. You will see. Yes--there WAS a reason why, especially in this song of SOS--that many people tear up and even sob, including myself. (Having worked with the mentally ill plus being able to follow the French lyrics from what I can remember from my French lessons decades ago, I blubbered like a baby.) This is actually a very, very sad song about someone who has never felt comfortable in this world, and wonders if the pain could go away if they were able to leave it, seeing it "from above." The singer also wonders if there is someone "out there" who can come and help them, hence the SOS. Seeing that the song has been around for 20+ years, there has always been controversy about if the singer feels they cannot fight their struggle any longer, and peacefully surrenders to suicide, as evidenced by the last line...gently, lovingly, telling someone it is time to go to sleep now, said as though to a child. People will fight you online if you pronounce the wrong name, your fans will spend hours watching your videos, opening fan clubs around the world and leaving long comments on KZfaq with the history of each song. They are obstinate and well prepared. My question was necessary at this point. What made these people so close to him, and what does he have that other artists don't? He doesn't need paid advertising because his fans will do it for free. They genuinely love this artist so much that they want to make him known at all costs. I honestly and personally (just my own personal opinion) believe, Dimash is a Music Virtuoso of our time. Dimash is a respectful and kind young man; who always credits his Family and his Team for his achievements and successes. He is from Kazakhstan and will be 27 (in May 2021). Dimash has been formally training and performing for over 22 years. At the age of 5 years old it was determined he had perfect pitch. Dimash is known for his exceptionally wide (bass to soprano to whistle register) vocal range and breath control. It is recorded that he has a range higher than Six (6) Octaves and continues to improve his ranges and techniques. Dimash is a phenomenal Vocal Storyteller and Performer. Dimash calls his style an "Innovation" [Neo-Classicism] in the Classical Crossover Genre.. Because of his "crossover" style/abilities there are many Vocal Coach/Singer debates as to whether Dimash is a Baritone, Tenor, Countertenor, Alto or Soprano. Dimash is multi-talented, Musician, Singer [12 languages], Multi-instrumentalist [7 instruments], Composer, Performer, as well as co-Directing/Filming and direct involvement in his own Music Videos. As a sidebar; Dimash [he is 1.91cm / 6ft 3in tall] has done Modelling/Photo shoots for well known Fashion Labels, Lifestyle and Fashion magazines. Dimash graduated in 2014 from Music Institute in Classical Music with Major in Vocal Opera (Bel Canto). Dimash continued his education with University studies in Contemporary Music and graduated in 2018 with a Major in Vocal Contemporary Pop & Jazz. In the Summer of 2020, Dimash graduated with a Master of Music Composition. Dimash is continuing doctorate studies in 2020/2021 at the same University. Hey Gabriel that was about 10% of Dimash's ability. He knows every technique in the book and more and performs them to perfection. Keep going so much more to see and here. Dimash has sung in 12 Languages plays 6/7 instruments and is a humble guy even with all his fame. He really cares about his Craft and Fans that he calls Dears. Even Wikipedia has a hard time keeping up will all his accolades at his ripe old age of 26 :) Most impressive vocalist that I have ever listen to in every aspect.
