As far as the "track system" goes, I believe I've seen Paul from Fab Rats use one in his shop in some of his videos. Plus, he will also be building a new shop, so you guys might want to bounce ideas back and forth. Hope you guys set up soon in the new shop. Congrats and good luck moving forward!!!
@bripslag
@bripslag 3 ай бұрын
Paul's track is mounted on a center post that can also turn 360 degrees. The base is the hub of a 2-ton rear axle, that's sunken into the concrete floor and the swivel is held in place by an air brake like you'd find on a semi trailer. It's an ingenious system that he build out of salvaged parts. It would be a great setup in a shop like this one.

Boys, the shop looks great. Can’t wait to see y’all working in there soon. I’ve worked for Costco for 18 years, if you have a Costco local to you, you could ask the warehouse manager if they have any old “Steel” uprights and beams they want to get rid of. The Warehouse I work for makes a couple scrap runs a year to get rid of old steel. Challenger Lifts supports a lot of KZfaqrs maybe they would work with you. Harbor Freight has some very reasonably priced Chain Hoists that have worked well for me.

When l built my shop l didn't think about a floor drain. Summer it's fine, winter with snow or rain it sure makes a mess. Sure enjoy all of your videos, my wife looks at me like I'm crazy laughing at you all. I have a 10 ton two post lift. If l had to do it over I would have went 12 ton. 10 will lift my 2500 Dodge with 8ft flat bed, but I am supper careful. Hope this helps, good luck!!!!! Stan in Sandhollow, Idaho. You can get all the over head crane stuff from harbor freight, plan on extending the remote cable because it's very short. Mohawk has 2 posts that operate much like the booms of a fork lift and the are made in America! Fans to move hot air back down from the ceiling in that tall building will come in clutch too

I have worked in Manfacturing where we have had several of the sliding wench systems, I would recommend putting in at least 2 of the winch track systems. once you get used to having them you will wonder how you ever lived without them. they come in handy for pulling motors and lifting all kinds of things .

Before my local steel warehouse shut down, they had two I beams the length of the building with a trolley system holding another I beam that was the width of the building. Two, two ton winches. You could move a 40' lift of steel anywhere in the building. Which, by the way, was 100' wide by 400' long. Best of luck 👍. If you're having trouble visualizing, look up in the top of most old barns. Most have a trolley system for moving hay.

Just buy a roller that mounts to the bottom of any structural I-beam. Then get a simple hand operated chain hoist. If you wanna spend a few extra dollars, you can buy electric chain hoists. Easy cheap solution for a crane in the shop. 👍👍

I know windows in basement are nice but but you need to really plan on good drainage around them. Dad built houses for 47 years never would put windows in the basement unless they were on high ground. I know of several basements flooding and I live in Indiana. Probably one of the most flat's states. Especially if you get 5" of rain. Keep up the good videos. Love your new shop. Building a barndominium with a nice size shop up in Michigan about the same color..

The cheapest way I've done floor coating. Is rustolium 2 part epoxy. Have done a couple shops with it. My current man cave. My son did the grinding put a water base epoxy seal coat then epoxy with 16th inch flacke finished it with 2 coats of industrial urethane with aluminum oxide in it. So it's held up to gas break fluid and oil. The only spot I have is a tire mark. Have 124 cubic inch dyna with soft tires. Think I had some break fluid get on it and it left a tread mark. I believe my company shop was done with rustolium and it with stands all fluids

Don’t go cheap on the epoxy! Home Depot floor kits are junk and won’t hold up. Go with a more industrial product like Amerlock 2. It’s a 2 part epoxy from PPG. Then top coat it with Pitthane Ultra. As long as you prep the concrete correctly, this finish will out last Rustoleum and big box store floor kits hands down!

Let me know what you are looking for as far as lighting goes. I’m sure you need some LED highbays and probably some cans or strips. With a set of prints for the job we can do a layout and photometrics so you know what direction and height to hang them along with the qty needed.

Don't skimp on your car lifts.There are lots of good brand of lifts. I've had quite a few lift in my shop over the years. Weight capacity is big deal .I had an 8000lb lift that struggled lifting a 6800lb Tahoe (it was sketchy lifting them ) and a 10000lb that was the only lift in my shop that could lift my 8600lb H2 Hummer. Be realistic you're probably not going to be lifting only Jeeps .Also the adapters that come with lifts can make it easy for you or make you worry every time you lift a vehicle! Good luck Peck Brothers . Awesome Garage!

Yes it would be freaking sick!! We didn’t want to put in a drain in the floor tho, we didn’t want it to take up floor space and not be able to roll tools/creepers over it! But I think we are gonna make a spot with like 2 ft of solid 3/4 rock gravel outside to wash everything so all the water just seeps into that!!

Lol this is one of those where you would have had to have been there. Sand bags are an hour away we live in the mountains.
