2023 KTM 250XC TBI ride review. You may have seen other videos saying you need to spend $1000+ on suspension upgrades to make this bike rideable, this is coming from someone that sells suspension components so take it for what it's worth. I feel like the suspension is pretty good in stock form and overall the 250/300xc's are very impressive. I think these are the best two strokes KTM has ever produced. They perform better than any TPI bike I've been on and are a lot more fun to ride.
Thanks to @enduroxma / enduroxma

A few mates own them, 250 and 300, they are all ex pro MX riders, not one has spent a dollar on suspension, apart from setting them up and changing oil!!! Suspension shops just lost heaps of customers with this bike ! KTM have done a brilliant job, i cant wait to see the EXC next year @

Frame is super stiff but that’s what makes it handle like a razor blade. I think the chassis tends to get overshadowed by the new TBI. Personally the chassis is my favorite part. Suspension is as good as it gets for stock but it definitely could use a little tuning. I felt it was amazing at speed but it’s a little harsh on the square edged type stuff.

Out of all the bikes I owned only 1 that I bought pre owned for MX was 100 percent dialed in perfect (race tech), I admit it makes a world of difference. But if you can’t just revalve/respring to your weight, set the sag and send it you’re a Weiner. The dudes that push Gucci parts for everything are the most miserable to ride with. Great review and hope to get a 300 in the future 🤞

The best thing about two strokes is that they're simple TBI changes that i don't like sensors and computers running my bike, when I'm 25 miles from my truck nothing can break. If that makes me old school so be it.

So you ride an old bike that doesn’t have electronic ignition? How many parts are inside a carburetor? Have you ever had a carb break on you while riding? I have a few times over the past 35 years. Do you still drive a carbureted truck with a points distributor because fuel injection is too unreliable?

Been waiting for an honest review of KTM's TBI bikes, thanks for the video and straight up opinion. I'm keen to purchase a TBI bike in the near future but theres a few persistent callouts of these bikes destroying their own top ends...yet to see if it's a genuine issue or just isolated cases.

I've got a '23 250 XC with 10 hours on it. I've heard a few comments about the destroyed top-ends, but every time I see a video on that topic, it's on the TPI's, not the TBI's, and I think guys are getting confused because the '23 XCW's are not TBI. I do have a good friend who owns both the '23 250 XC and the 300 XC and he is having trouble with his 250 over-fueling (consuming too much fuel and fouling plugs). I have not had experienced that myself.

My 19 350sxf is my first bike with air forks. Best suspension I’ve ever had from factory, even compared to my 2011 350 suspension when I rode for RMR way back in 2011/2012. At 40hrs I had Rod rebuild it, revalve it and respiring the rear for my weight (165lbs with gear on) for the track and not only is it more plush but the bottoming resistance is actually there. I can run it no problem up at vedder as well:

There is a huge disconnect between "casual trail riders" and "trail racers". Trail riders ride at very slow speeds and the way a bike handles means far less because it is never pushed to its limits. Trail racers are hauling the mail, bouncing off rocks and using the full travel of the suspension. A bike that one guy likes won't be worth crap to the other guy. Reliability and serviceability means more than anything else. Everything else can be modified.

I still ride the last edition of the carburated 300EXC, it is plenty fast and the suspension after a revalve fork is plenty good for national level enduros. I say this after having ridden KTMs when they were branded Pentons. 125, 175, 250, and 300EXCs, all excellent machines. Living in Colorado, I have ridden my 250EXC and 300 EXC from 5Kfeet to 12K feet of altitude with minimal jetting changes.

Greg, it's so refreshing to have your voice and your channel to go to when looking for practical, real world information on a bike. One major factor is the type of rider you are compared, to say, Jeff Slavens. Jeff's much older and he's traditionally been a guy that wants the easiest most plush ride available no matter the cost. He's a Rekluse guy and often has upwards of $5k into his suspension packages. Of course, he also has a financial component is a big factor for Jeff as well. Great job Greg and keep up the great work!

Listen, the guy is a salesman (slavens). Plain and simple. He’s definitely trying to sell his suspension/components. But let’s also be real here: ANY bike is better, with better suspension… …IF AND ONLY IF THAT UPGRADED SUSPENSION is tailored to your weight and riding/abilities & then tuned afterward. The tuning part after several rides is just as important as having the right spring rates etc…
@PNWEnduro

@haitzy yes you can always make the suspension better with upgrades. Slaven's is saying it's complete garbage in stock form which is false. @@PNWEnduro hi there! Really enjoyed your video. Awesome quality. You mentioned you just rode the 300 xc so it would have been fresh as a back to back comparison. I’m looking to buy a 2024 250xc. I’m leaning towards the 250 because they generally feel lighter and turn better than a 300. Are they still capable of getting up technical hills, do they have enough torque or is the fly wheel weight too light? I know as the motors get smaller they are more work to climb hills, but it’s possible to get even a 125 up a nasty hill eventually.. but they shine in super tight stuff.. so in parts of the trail they will be fun , other parts quite a challenge..hopefully the 250 xc wouldn’t be too far off from the 300xc I rode and would be a good in between trade off. Id love to hear your thoughts 🙏🏻🙏🏻

In the last 4 or 5 years KTM suspension has come out of the box with very very tight tolerances. So to do a far eval you need 10 hours on them before you can make a fair eval. My guess is Greg is riding a bike with a few hours on it, and so is getting a real look at how this thing works.

I've been holding off because I never buy a first year release. I have my eye on a TX 300 Heritage. They are saying 10 hours to break the chassis in and it's way to stiff. Seems you have a different take. It's hard to decide, because you can't test drive these things. I'm 52 and leaving MX racing and starting trail riding and haven't bought a bike for it yet. My son is leaving MX as well and is going to do this with me. He wants the 300XC. Almost ready to do it. I felt my '22 Gas Gas EC300 was too soft stock, so I added springs and Suspension 101 Gobbler valves. This made a huge improvement and got the bike where I needed it. I also had my ECU reflashed by TPI Tuning and it improved the throttle response. I was impressed by the Pick-A-Part section at the end! Take a fender, leave a fender? You could almost build a bike out those parts. :)

@PNWEnduro
@PNWEnduro Жыл бұрын
Adobe Premiere Elements. A big factor in the picture quality is filming in 4K (GoPro 11). When you film and render the video in 4K it will force YT to show your videos in the higher codec VP09. When you see pov videos that are really grainy and pixelated it usually because it's playing in the lower codec avc1.

So 250 vs 300 in the PNW? Would you say the 250xc is more tractable (?) than older carb 250 years? Looking to have my cake and eating it too...
@PNWEnduro
@PNWEnduro Жыл бұрын
250 vs 300, I think it's pretty close on the new models. I don't think is more tractable than the older carb 250 as the power hits pretty hard now.

How's 250 engine comparing to the 300? is the bike feeling lighter? I'm slow so i usually like 250 better cause is less tiring overall.... Thanks a nd nice video... keep going
@PNWEnduro

Yes, it feels a bit more light and playful like 250's generally do compared to the 300's but it has a lot more power and is more responsive than the TPI bikes were.

Rode the 23' 250 SX today. I own the 23' 300 SX. In my opinion, 250 is a woods weapon. 300 might be too much for most in the woods but absolutely rips on the moto track. For perspective...rode the new 23' 450 today also and honestly...I think the 300 is right there with it. Ride the 300 a gear high and smooth and you move in the woods though. Eitherway, TBI is the way to go handsdown in my opinion on the engine vs carb or TPI. Tranny is obviously different between XC and SX. I have gone up 1 tooth on the rear on my XC. If you are doing a lot off slow tech riding... get the XC. Fast harescrambles or moto...SX. Hope that helps.

I have a '22 TM EN300 TBI, mine is flawless. I ride a bunch of elevations which is why I went that direction vs carb, which TM still offers. There will always be a injected vs carb debate on any engine, no matter how many wheels it has.

@@gpaull2 issues with the injectors getting clogged and the serviceability to get them cleaned here locally for cheap. Along with all those electrical connections... I was advised when looking at a new ktm to take the whole bike apart and go through the connectors and put dielectric grease in them and make sure they are fully connected. This was said to me by the dealer because this particular dealer has seen some messed up stuff coming right out of the crate before dealer set up.
