Wow, my studio condo in San Diego Bay was 400k 10 years ago. It didn’t have the water view. And it had a high crime rate. This property is beautiful, large & serene with blue ocean view. Yes, I love Mexico and Mexican people.

Great video. So smart. I came from a family that took care of the generation before. My grandparents died in my home and my parents had 5 children who pitched in for them. My wife and I don't have kids so end of life care was certainly a huge factor in our decision to move to Mexico from the USA. Hopefully at 47 and 53 we are far away from that, but life goes fast and it happens even faster. End of life care in the USA is ABSURD $$$. thanks Brighton, also love a great wall

Pam and I are in the same boat. Once "dinks" Double Income No Kids. Now No Income and only dogs to spoil. Not complaining but it is scary as we climb that ol age "ladder".

So far, Steven's property looks quite pretty. He changed his lifestyle which changed his outlook on life and look how healthy he is! He's enjoying life instead of waiting to die, wow! Looking forward to Part 2!

Dear 'Mr. Almost Retired in Mexico'. Thanks for visisting our home and Steven's orchard/gardens. Looking forward to the 2nd video, I'll probably learn a lot about what's here myself. That's because my 'job' is watering out front and Steven takes care of all the plants, getting the dirt, locating the plants/trees, planting and nurturing them. Nice job on the video; Todos may become more popular yet again. It's grown so much since we arrived April 30, 2019. Special thanks to 'Better Health' as well.

He’s a very young 78 year-old! Moving to Mexico was the best thing for him. He looks so vibrant & healthy! Much better than shrivelling up in the rain like a lot of his neighbours.

Yes - technically this is the La Paz municipality but most would call it Todos Santos. And they probably have a few saints there.

Brighton, we are small veggie market farmers in MN. Is there opportunity for a small farm in this area of MX? We have spent quite a bit of time in Puerto Vallarta, including the mountains south, ie, El Tuito.

I don't know the Todos Santos area very well. I'm guessing there is a lot of demand for organic veggies because there are a lot of wealthy foreigners living here. But I'm also guessing some locals may have filled that niche because they have access to existing farm land. It would be worth looking into!

I love your videos. i was in la paz in 2022 February, was very nice weather 22°C about. me and my husband we live near mexico city. i am sometimes thinking about moving to la paz. but there is one question i am wondering - how expats in la paz who are full timers - deal with those crazy hot summer monthts? do you have some interviews about it? we have 31° in CDMX now and it is challenging even if here is lesser humidity than in ocean areas. Can life be enjoyed there in la paz also when there is 39°? Can you do video about it please?

Climate during summer months? I spent a week in La Paz last year in August or September and found the heat after 9 AM to be intense. And, what is the Mexican legal status of the houses and land that he purchased?

He needs to share that $35 per night motel in Cabo PLEASE. For sure his beautiful lifestyle will prolong his life. Organic food, exercise and love will have that effect on a person. I'd love to know how he found his helpers too. I'm sure the family is thrilled with their living situation as well for sure. I wonder what he paid for that gorgeous property with the three homes???

How cheap can you live in this town for one person on a tight budget ?

This would be a tough place to live on a budget. Lowest budget living means not having a car. And the area outside Todos Santos requires a car. And the downtown area where you wouldn't need a car is expensive. You're better off looking to cities on the mainland if you have a tight budget.

When your guest was talking about the sideways rain it reminded me of why we decided against Panama. Maybe you can buy Kat a farm there in Mexico? (Make sure she doesn't read that part) When you were trying to think of safe places I was thinking of places like Maine or better still here. Very good Mr B another home run. P n D

@@jamesxanthios1317 I too live in Canada. Nova Scotia to be precise. Actually according to stats we are in the warmest province in Canada. But it can get cold, sometimes it even snows here. (sometimes) This was an exceptional winter... plowed the driveway 5 times. lol. But I too believe Mexico to be the drivable alternative. Expensive ?? At least we don't need to take out a second mortgage if a loved one needs medical help.

$400 plus housing? I didn't see the family during the couple of hours I was at the house, so I'm not sure how involved they are. Remember, Mexico is not the United States. And there is a balance of paying a fair wage, while not upsetting the local economy (and making it impossible for locals to hire help.) If you hired a Mexican lawyer, would you be committed to paying US rates? Or would you be happy paying $100USD per hour?

@@AlmostRetiredinMexico Here are the facts: Over 47,000 drug related homicides or murders in Mexico in just the past 5 years. Mexico has a homicide rate over 3 times that of the U.S. Mexico has a homicide rate of 18 per 100,000 and the U.S. has a homicide rate of 4.8 per 100,000. Also tell the parents of those surfers who were brutally murdered over a set of tires in Baja that Mexico is safer than the U.S. Tell them that to their face.

@@Resmith18SR Unless youre involved in the cartel or get mixed up in drugs, your survival rate wont look to bright in mexico. Now, violent crime happens everywhere. The story of the surfer murders is horrible. But I'll take my chances in mexico over most cities in the US. Plus, we dont have to put up with the crazy red hatters. 😉

@@StreetTruckinTitan I have lived here in Mexico for years and I think not being real about what's really happening here is wrong. There are politicians and reporters here that have been shot and murdered because certain people in the particular cartel didn't like what they were saying or doing. Businesses here get shaken down and extorted and have to pay up every month or they threaten to kidnap or murder the business owners family. And those surfers were not involved in any drugs or nefarious activities, they were just collateral damage. Americans seem to go to both extremes regarding the safety issues here in Mexico. It's not as safe and it is more corrupt here than you think or imagine.

But what is drastically different between mexico and the US is, mexico doesnt have mass shootings of innocent people in theaters, schools, nightclubs, churches, outdoor venues and absolutely nothing is done about it to try and fix the problem. Again, mexico is super corrupted and the cartel problem is out of control, but at least normal everyday people dont have to worry about getting mowed down enjoying themselves in large crowds or children going to school.

I have my doubts that a well educated (aka smart) person is capable of causing strife. On the other hand a dumb as dirt lazy grifter who is so impressed by dictators, could cause the whole country to descend into darkness including the tiki torch parade types. Bad is bad but when bad becomes stupid they then carry weapons to compensate for their loss of self respect and or respect for their fellow citizens.
