Part of the Berlinale's 2014 Competition.
About the film: In Aloft, Claudio Llosa, who won the Golden Bear in 2009 for La teta asustada, tells a story about responsibility and radical new beginnings. Accompanied by a young documentary filmmaker, Ivan penetrates deeper and deeper into an unknown, frozen landscape. The film uses an enigmatic network of flashbacks to reveal the reasons behind this journey.
When Ivan is a boy his mother Nana works on a farm where she also takes care of Gully, Ivan’s younger brother whose mental health is deteriorating as a result of a debilitating illness. Nana tells Ivan to support his brother but he defiantly withdraws into a world of his own instead where he follows his falcon Inti’s manoeuvres in the air. One day a healer arrives at the place where they live. Through him, Nana discovers her own healing powers. Together they build fragile tents from twigs where they help heal other people’s children. But then a tragic accident occurs which tears Nana's family apart.
Years later - as the story reverts to the present - Ivan sets off in search of his mother. He is a father himself now and he has heard Nana has set up her tent at the end of a frozen lake.

It was cut out. You might be able to find it under some kind of a porn site if you search for her name. I think I found it once but I can't remember where sorry. If I find it again I'll post a link. But don't hold your breath.

No one found it strange that they had sex in a car the first time they met? It didn’t seem like she was joking when she said that. And…she was pregnant? And…he’s married? Sorry, but it’s hard to justify that big of a line being crossed for the sake of dedication to the “craft”. And everyone just seemed to laugh it off like it’s not a big deal. I mean, I can’t imagine he consulted his wife beforehand and she was like “yeah ok hunny”. I kind of feel bad for her…

I’m so confused… did they really have sex? Cause I don’t remember an intimate scene of them in Aloft 💀

It was a scene in the original cut of the film that was removed because people felt much the same as you: that it was unnecessary and gross. As was another scene involving Jennifer’s character in a farm. The director is known for making unnecessary explicit scenes in her work for the sake of “artistry” that might make her better suited for porn. Director’s seem to be very keen on having Cillian naked/semi-nude and in as many sex scenes as possible for their own personal reasons. I, too, think it’s strange for married actors to cheat on their partners by filming explicit scenes, but if you want to logically consistent you should also feel that way about every kiss between actors and actresses that are not actual couples as well.

They made it sound as if (and I believe I read it somewhere else too) they “scheduled” to have sex in a car by themselves when they first met before even filming a sex scene. Their sex was separate from a movie scene. This is a much different scenario than being directed to kiss someone in a sex scene with many people around making it awkward. I’m pretty sure they were completely alone while doing it. That’s the way they make it sound anyway…

@@blancasuave6658 no that’s not what happened at all. There was a scene in the original cut of the movie in which they have sex in a car. This scene was scheduled for the beginning of the filming because for some reason a lot of directors film sex scenes on the very first day.

@@haruhianderson4019did you see the original cut with the sex scene in it? How explicit was it? More than what cillian has done in peaky blinders?
