Absolutely stunning landscapes, count yourself lucky to have these places in your "backyard"! I´m sure the next night you´ll sleep like a baby from sheer exhaustion. Great hike!

I love this series! In October my older son took me on my first overnight hike/ camp. Kicked my butt. I lost desire to do it alone!! I am so glad you did this. Your words echoed the very things I was saying when I was on the trail. I felt the same challenge desire as I hit 55 this year. Thanks for sharing this. I am rooting for you. 💕

You should be very proud of yourself! Going through, to the other side of pain, fear and adversity makes you so much stronger and more confident in your ability. It’s something we all need more of!

Well just think you're screaming just scared 😱 all the animals nearby. I wished I could do this but. Since my car wreck. I'm very nervous and scared. Anxiety is really bad. I'm an outdoors lady. I loved Nature. But being by myself I can't. Thank You for sharing 💓

For your first time you are doing great....great even if it was your hundredth time. 12 miles with a big pack is a lot for anybody, especially with all the altitude gain and loss. You've got a lot of Clay's video making skills....or maybe you taught him! haha Thanks for sharin!

I feel your pain, been there many times. One thing (maybe two things) that I've found to be a huge help to me is Pedialyte. They make it for adults in powder form. So I like to carry 16 OZ bottle of that plus 1Liter of water. Also, hard candy helps keep saliva flowing in your mouth. You really did great, you didn't choose an easy hike, nor are you an 'ultralight' backpacker. Truthfully, I prefer to be prepared like you. But my guess is, over time, you'll dial in what you need and don't need. Congratulations again...keep going!😊

Thank you. I had re-lyre electrolytes with me. And for gear, it was way too heavy. I’m working on getting lighter stuff and only necessary stuff in my pack.

... That was a lot of work for a first time solo ... physically and mentally .. I think I would have stayed at that first camp ,, a great site and get comfortable with the area ,, spend the day fishing and just being there at such a beautiful place ... with the best trail companion anyone could ask for .. .... Yep ,, a day in ,, a day of experiencing the mountain ,, and the third day out .... I think we seem to make too much out of a 3 day outing ... When on short solo treks stay focused and don't take risks ..... awug !!,, Filter ALL water to consume ... giardia is NO fun ....... Thanks for sharing your outing .. Stay Safe ...

This has been so fun to watch Liz! You're such a badass and you're motivating me to want to push myself outside of my comfort zone. I really enjoy all of your videos! As a side note, would you be open to doing a video on your homeschooling routine or what homeschooling looks like for your family? We are new to home schooling and curriculum and planning seems so overwhelming but it seems like your kids have a good balance between book work (from videos I've seen!) and real life experience/skills.

Getting out of the comfort zone is a hard thing to do but it’s soooo worth it! It’s something that never gets easy but it’s been worth it every time I’ve ever done something outside of my comfort zone. You can do it 😊 I can try to do a homeschool video. We are very relaxed with homeschool and I’ve thought about doing a video, just not sure how I would put it together because we don’t do what traditional homeschool looks like but ,yes, I will do one in the next few weeks when we get to our Florida home.

You did well. I would have still been on the 1st day stretch. Lol. You talking about how the grouse startled you reminded me of the times bobwhite quail doing the same thing to me while deer hunting. 😅
