As someone who is eyeing up Alpha Legion, I found this super helpful.

Glad it helped! Thanks for watching 🍻

Update: When we were speaking about the 'Coils of the Hydra', we were mistaken in which units gain Fearless. It is the Rewards of Treachery units that gain Fearless unit a unit from Reserves arrives.

good review and tactics tips without alot of the personal bias and assumptions that some other channels make which i guess is the difference between playing it and just talking about it

Great episode, really interesting. I think you didnt mention that none of the charachter are have the loyalist or traitor keyword which is interesting but maybe the most fun thing is that Exodus is not Unique so you could have multiple models of him. Granted it may not be the most fun gamewise bit the option is there. Great episode, big thanks
@fareastwargaming9 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. Good catch about the Exodus not being unique, but then again... How many do you want to bring. They are good, but limited in their function. Stay tuned for out future army reviews 👍

*does a happy dance*... Yay. Alpha Legion in the lime light (not really where they want to be!) 😁 Personally, 7 of my 10 Headhunters have combi bolters (boltgun/melta gun) and 2 multi meltas (you can have one for every 5 man in the squad) and a leader with inferno pistol (3d printed pistol). Doesn't mean they all have to be used at the same time, but it offers a bit of flexibility to put together a squad for character assassination. The Lernean Terminators (with 'line') usually get tasked with seizing the furthest away objectives. Their job is to be the "immovable object" to either capture or contest said objective. Both Alpharius and Armillus can get them there fast with deep strike/scout respectively, no need to walk/drive to the objective. Yes, Alpharius' deployment options are flexible indeed. You could deep strike three super heavy tanks to the opponents table half if you so desired (and had the points to spare, which you usually don't if you already have a Primarch in the army). Alpha Legion just feels like this nice big bag of tricks. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Almost like 2nd edition Orks 😂 Thanks a lot for the review guys edit: I may be a bit atypical, as I struggle to fit things into the fast attack slot. The headhunters usually compete against seeker squads with nemesis bolters, sabre tanks and storm eagles, the latter which can deep strike 20 man tactical squads into the opponents half in support of the Lerneans. Too many options, too few slots edit2: For some reason, I never really got around to use reward of treachery units 🤔 edit3: An obscure benefit as an Alpha Legion player with just a small friends circle is, you can play either side (they have no affiliation, being neither traitor nor loyalist). Makes it easier to find an opponent, as any opponent will do.

Wow! A lot to process 😂 A s you've seen Jason runs a very similar headhunter loadout as you. It's probably the most points efficient way to do it. For the Lerneans I think your right, but its more for those missions that score by turn. Because you put them there until another line unit can take over. Like all Primarchs, they shine the most at the larger point games such as 4K and up. Those games themselves are generally killing frenzies with so much damage available on the board each turn. We don't see much Sabre use over here. Mainly, because in our meta they just don't have enough damage output for the price and being 24" range, you have to place yourself close to charge range to be effective. We love Storm Eagles, but Interceptor and Missile Heavy Support squads really do away with their Deep Strike capabilities. You HAVE to get some Rewards of Treachery units. You are basically wasting one of the legions special abilities if you don't. It really helps fill in some of the AL gaps in units. As for Allegiance, most armies can play both ways. So we've got a pretty good mix out here.

@@fareastwargaming I used to have a squad of Tyrant Siege terminators as well as some Palatine Blades on my wishlist... but then my wishlist got virus bombed by GW 😝 And agreed, deep strike is like drop pods. Don't do a single one (as much as I would've loved a veteran squad in a drop pod), preferring them in pairs or threes if possible.

I like Banestrike on terminator characters, a cheap boost to range and they have relentless for the charge
@fareastwargaming9 ай бұрын
Yes, for full effect of the Banestrike bolters, you do need relentless. That's why they are good on the Headhunters, but for the Headhunters, the combi upgrade is just too cheap to pass up.
@paulshaw39079 ай бұрын
@@fareastwargaming Points add up quickly with combi headhunters. I do like banestrike on apothecary aswell.

Why does everybody want to push Learneans to the front line? xD They are excellent as back objective sitters/counter charge unit. Conversion beamer is great addition. Not only blowing up tanks with s12 ap1 but, even at close, you will usually get that blind on a key unit at last once in a game.
@fareastwargaming9 ай бұрын
As mentioned, because that is an expensive unit to sit in your back line. I would take Recons with nemesis bolters or even a tac squad over them.
@n0hesitati0n154 ай бұрын
I was wondering if a 5 man unit of Learneans work well as a flanking/reserve unit coming in near the enemy objectives, keep the legion specific reaction handy for a quick move to close the distance? They’ll be an axe, instead of an anvil, chopping behind the enemy, dividing up the attention. Been thinking about getting into Alpha Legion as my first HH army.
