@@BanterSage I just got the MV7X and it's way better at rejecting noise than the Podmic. By a mile. My gf is watching tv and nothing is coming through at all and my MNK dont get picked up either. Sound is way better for my voice as well. I've set the noisegate, compresser, des-esser, EQ, etc. on both and again Podmic was fare worse of an experience for me and even after working with it for 7 hours+ it wouldnt sound the best and block out other sounds. I'm assuming it needs to be a quiet environment for it to be a great mic. Also - a joke? Maybe for some cock sucking elitist it is. I'm playing games and live with another person. Just need it to sound great and reject noise.

The microphone I use is not one I see many people suggesting, but it is very affordable and a lot of people have complemented me on my audio because of it. It's the Fifine K658. Since I started posting content on youtube almost a decade ago, to now streaming I too went through a ton of microphones. I started off with a blue snowball ICE, then to a blue snowball for more customizablity, to the blue yeti pro, rode podmic, to then the shure mv7x because I wanted the shure sm7b but couldn't afford it. After taking content creating and streaming a little bit more seriously I decided to be smart and invest in what I not only find appealing to the eyes but also sounds amazing. I found it hard to decide on to stick with the rode podmic or the shure mv7x, but after rode launched their white content bundle I had to snag it and I fell in love with the rode podmic all over again and that has been my go to mic ever since. However, like you said you have a different mic for different setup, i was thinking of getting a new mic for my talk head videos and thought to stick with the white theme to go for the beacn mic, but unfortunetly they're out of stock right now. So once they're back in stock for sure I will be getting my hands on the white beacn mic.

I currently use a Yeti X but will be upgrading to the Beacn Mic soon. Yeti is solid but, with kids it's challenging to keep out the background noise. I don't have the luxury of a closed space in this house so loud sounds trickle in sometimes. The Yeti is a really good mic for enclosed spaces.

Earthworks has some great microphones as well. The Earthworks Ethos is $399, but you don't need any additional hardware to boost the gain (such as the SM7B). I've tried the SM7B - cloudlifter - focusrite. but to get my voice to normal levels you also hear window fan noise even though it's about 8 feet away. I've also had a Fifine mic that was decent as well overall if you like directional audio. Edit: Forgot to add one benefit of the customization on XLR mics, you can put them through a physical mixer and use the 3.5mm mic-out port from mixer to computer mic jack. In case you needed an extra USB port to be free for something else.

I myself bought the Rode NT1-A some time ago, as it is quite popular in Germany, but I also read that many people prefer the NT1, which is why I ended up comparing the two plus a few more (Baby Bottle, Pure 440, King Bee II, MK4) and to be honest, none of them really convinced me, or rather I considered the sound superior to that of the NT1-A 🤔 However, I also have to say that I didn't have the best headphones at the time, nor did the mics was EQed (do you write that so? 👀) 😅 Anyway, a few days ago I bought the Wave 3 with accessories quite cheaply on Ebay, simply because I was curious about how it sounds, especially compared to an XLR mic, and it's on a par with the NT1-A, if not superior, I still have to order new 770 Pros and then I can really compare the two, but what I already notice positively is that I can move the Wave 3 much closer to me, simply because it doesn't have such a huge pop filter like the Rode xD and that the S sounds are nowhere near as sharp ^^ By the way, what kind of Beach microphone arm is this, I can't find anything about it on the internet and would like to see if there is a comparison to the Elgato 😮

Good cheap dynamic mic that I just picked up and started using for under $100 CAD that is usb and xlr is the Samson Q2U podcast mic. Works amazing as I have clicking noises that would get picked up easily with a condenser mic but not this one. And the sound quality is a lot better

Great how to mic basics coverage. RIP to the GoXLR Devices specially the mini you had there. My wifes one of those old GTA RP streamers, been on those servers for years now and the evolution of microphone has been crazy. The stream equipment graveyard is always growing. Went from the specially with the mic & audio equipment. She has gone from Snowball iCE Audio Technica AT2020 + Behringer Q802USB Shure SM58 + Creative Sound Blaster K3+ ( effects board & mix, pre GOXLR was sweet ) Shure SM7B + GoXLR ( Extreamly bulky setup, and the SM7B tends to be very warm sounding, not the best for a young women voice ) Rode Pod Mic + Elgato Wave XLR (Almost the best setup but the wave by itself doesn't offer much customization ) Beacn Mic + Beacn Mix Create ( Would have stuck with it, but had so many software issues ) and now she is using the Elgato Wave DX + Elgato Wave XLR + Elgato Stream Deck+ She thinks for streaming its the easiest 0-100% stream setup and easist to use. Also takes up very little desk space.

I keep hearing more and more issues with BEACN's software, as powerful as it is the fact its so buggy is what holds them back considerably.

For shotgun mics, if the Sennheiser MKH 416 is too expensive, I think the Sennheiser MKE 600 offers also great quality for about a quarter of the price.

Looking forward to buying a mic this Boxing Day. Not entry level, but not super professional just a good mic in the middle with easy to use software integration.

I do not like seeing the Mic in the frame .. Rode Go II wireless mic with Rode with a rode Lavalier II ... no one complains ... do you ever use them. are there other mics that you can use and keep them out of the frame ... with put using a boom arm?

A good inexpensive USB Dynamic is the Presonus Revelator Dynamic. Similar to the Beacn mic it has on board processing, and headphone jacks, just no RGB. It was $100 the last I checked. You can go cheaper for USB and USB/XLR Dynamics and get the Fifine K688 and K687 (IIRC) they are sub $60/$70 they have servicable sound that with a little processing (either in OBS or EQAPO as they lack onboard processing and dedicated software) they can sound very solid (I use both of the Fifine mics in my current setup). If I were to recommend a USB Dynamic to a newish streamer it'd probaboly be the Presonus one as it is a lot easier to just setup and go
