The challenge system works in that if they have no other cards they can play and you challenge then you draw two extra cards but if they have at least one other card they can play they draw 4 instead. So yeah it's like a bluff.

This particular Uno game uses the newer scoring system where the point gain is based on the cards left in the opponents' hands at the end, so your teammate having a lot of cards in hand isn't a problem, but if you can force your opponents to have as many cards in hand as possible then it's worth more points when you win!

So to explain the challenge thing: you are only legally allowed to play a draw 4 when you have no other playable cards in your hand, however, you may attempt to bluff that and play it anyway. If you get caught you draw the stack if you were telling the truth then the challenger draws 2 additional cards over the stacked value.

Honestly, I always loved a good Uno video. I would not be mad if you guys broke the "new game every day" and played with more people.

The thing is that the winning team’s score is determined by the losers’ hands (number cards are worth their value, special cards are 20, wilds are 50) so while the “one player intentionally amasses a huge hand to help their teammate” strat may be efficient, it’s also super risky and might give your opponents a ton of points if they manage to win a round

Uno is the simplist game that people don't use as a conversation tool, people somehow only talk about uno while playing uno.

Fun fact: in Uno you aren't supposed to use a +4 wild if you have a card of the color that is in play. If you challenge the person who played the +4 wild and they do have a card of the color in play, then that person has to draw instead of you. I don't remember if this applies to cards of the same number though

Jo, technically in some rulesets, tou can't play a wild if you have any other valid move. Challenging means going "hey, buddy, I think you actually had a yellow you could've played" and if they did, then they get all the cards.

For those wondering why Jo had to draw 10: +4 wild card are only supposed to be played when you cant play any other card. If you think the player who played the wild card do actually has the color or number, you can challenge them, if you are correct, they draw 4, if you are wrong you draw 2 extra cards on top of the ones you already have to draw
