Spectacular win - now just imagine some of the more courageous elite players trying to follow Magnus's example (provided they are able to) by adopting (t)his innovative style, neglecting to count pawns and to evaluate positions solely by material (dis)advantages in favour of digging up the "hidden treasures" within a position... Perhaps the future of chess won't be as bleak as many have been predicting.

Ronnie Aspbäck Because Kasparov was exactly in Magnus position. When he was focused and hungry for tournament results, he was unstoppable, but he needed something as a goal, something that triggered him. Magnus is without one of the 5 strongest player of all time and he is triggered hard from his match with caruana. He is so eager and motivated to prove everyone that he is superior in classical chess and not only drawing his way to the rapid and bullit tie-breaks, that it seems he really sharpened his game and is much more willing to fight and dominate. Good for us, we can enjoy, it’s like Morphy, Lasker, Capablanca, Aljechin, Fischer or Kasparov when they were on a roll to prove everybody 😂😂

Very fun game, everything was seemingly safe because of closed position, but all the ways the position could / would open had very many dangerous lines, at the end Nepo made just one mistake (of the many he could have made). Wonderfully crafted position by Magnus, there was really many ways for white to make a blunder, which led to Nepo use a lot of time until he made bad move.

Great coverage as always. Thank you. But there seems to be some problem with the video quality. There was only 360p available for me...

really impressive that Magnus has been able to, seemingly, find some underlying patterns on when it's okay/good to sacrifice and push pawns. there has to be some intense study going on behind the scenes

Carlsen live rating. 2877. He's not that far off beating his own world record. Remember him being close to even with Caruana last year. What an amazing run. Congratulations to Carlsen. He s a true champion.

How did Nepo miss such a simple move? G4 was the first move I considered in the position and I didn't even know why. It just seems good and natural.

hello sir, can you please tell the computer evalutation score in the position where the player resigns the game, at least when theres no forced checkmate? that would be great:) have a nice day

Before he resigned carlsen had a mate in 14, not sure he saw it, but it was a disastrous positionfor nepo. After he took with the wrong pawn it was already all over, something like -5 for black.
