For me, this was Paul Pierce on the Nets. I had grown up in New Jersey and started casually following basketball around 2010 ish. Pierce was always my favorite player because I decided to be a LeBron hater early on and Pierce's Celtics always seemed to get the best of him at that time. Paul Pierce being traded to the Nets is what made me a hardcore Nets fan and I think fondly of that season despite it being looked at by most as a disappointment.

James Harden was my favorite player starting out since I hated the warriors and he was amazing for houston. Seeing him come to my nets was great. I imagine with how little success the big 3 had these are somewhat comparable experiences lol

Honestly respect for coming out and just saying "I decided to be a Lebron hater early on". Everyone can have their own biases but I hate it when people throw unreasonable shade on a player while saying "its just facts bro, I'm not hating", if you have a personal bias acknowledge it and own it instead of passing it off like its objective fact that everyone should agree on.

Tbh I feel like I needed to hear the "there's so much more to this game than winning championships" statement. I feel like nowadays as an adult, I spend more time arguing about the sport rather than enjoying the small moments that made me fall in love with it growing up and enjoying thr moments that will make beautiful memories.

dude this means a lot and it speaks to why a lot of people value your thoughts and feelings on stuff. most of my favourite basketball memories are of watching mid-tier teams that aren't going to win a championship that season, playing for cities i will never visit, but having a good time doing it. half of the games i've enjoyed watching the most happened before i was even born and i watched them in archives. too much of nba youtube is filled with people either crunching numbers to the point of losing the wider picture, or coming from an angle of raw over/unders and nothing else. mechanical-feeling content churned out by and for gambling mind palace statisticians sometimes feels like it's an overbearing weight of youtube content; you get barraged with more than enough of it just watching games on tv. coming to sport (or anything in life) from such a zero-sum angle feels like it sucks the joy and humanity out of the whole experience; reduces all the beauty and meaning of this sport to mere horseracing. your whole kind of attitude, having a sense of soul and actually feeling joy in a game - that's the reason i enjoy watching your stuff and seeing the angle you come to things from.

I’m a huge NYK fan and I’ll NEVER EVER forget Linsanity. Probably my fondest memory of being a Knicks fan since growing up in the 90s. I know it was just a flash-in-the-pan kinda deal but I can’t forget how damn cool it was to see people actually care about the Knicks for a bit, then the next year, Melo, JR and co tore the league up (kinda). Call it sour grapes, but they most definitely, undeniably got cheated out of the playoffs against Indy that year.

* Game winning steal and dunk vs the Pacers * Two game winning steals vs the Kings * The OKC game where both Jimmy and Wade went off (Jimmy had a triple double Wade had his 10th rebound stolen by Felicio) * IIRC the Bulls that season were undefeated in national televised games. * Wade getting a poster on Alex Len to seal the game against the Suns. * Wade faking out two Sixers defenders before hitting the midrange shot. * The first two games of the playoffs. There were plenty of enjoyable moments in that series.

We all have fond memories of something. Different sport, but I’ll always remember the 2022 Mariners because they made the first playoff appearance since I was very little. And I’ll never forget the 2020-21 NBA season because I read a lot of NBA history out of curiosity, and watched a lot of videos (the video on whether Nash deserved his MVP’s is where I discovered you). And that made me appreciate just how unprecedented the postseason we saw in 2021 really was. One thing I’d have to disagree with you on though: I wouldn’t disown everything you made before 2020. While the editing may not have been the same pre-Rudy, I would argue that the Goatmentary was an excellent series, your video on Karl Malone’s personal life was well executed, and say what you want about Paul Pierce and Dwyane Wade, but the video where you go after Pierce as an analyst was good in my opinion, and the one where you go after Bayless, Colin Cowherd and Nick Wright from 2018 or so is one of my favorites I’ve seen from your channel. I wouldn’t disown your older videos if I were you, but to each their own. Also, those videos introduced me to a lot of good Lakey Inspired tracks.

My favorite Dwyane Wade play is the one where he blocked Amare Stoudemire and shot a full court shot before the buzzer sounds. That was in 2005 season... the very first season I started watching NBA. That was also a little bit of a bigger deal for me at that time, because that game was the battle of the no. 1 seeds from East and West. Yeah I can't forget that.

@RobotWillie10 ай бұрын
When you say you enjoyed seeing him in the Bulls jersey it really reminds me of the quote from Jerry Seinfeld, "You're rooting for clothes, when you get right down to it. We're screaming about laundry." But I can see why you would enjoy seeing such a iconic player of his generation in that jersey even if it didn't lead to great success. But at the same time we would all love to see any legendary or all star player in our teams laundry as the quote says, and in this case it came true for you so you enjoyed it. I can't say I personally ever look back fondly on times someone who was on the down swing of their career and were already probably a HOFer went to a team I liked and never had much of an impact. I am honestly more of a football fan and an example of this is Jerry Rice going to my team the Seahawks to end his career. Most people don't even remember he played for Seattle and they were a pretty good team then even, they made the playoffs and it was only a year before they got to their first Superbowl. And I surely don't look back on it fondly or that he in any way should be associated with Seattle when his legacy in San Francisco and Oakland is talked about. But somehow you have created fond memories out of a similar situation and if you want to remember it like that then that is cool for you. But I don't think anyone think of Wade and his legacy outside of anything that happened in a Heat jersey as all the rest was just the wind down to a career that was already a lock for the HOF. Maybe you could look at Wade's time in Chicago as a retirement tour in a way too coming home for one last chance at hometown glory before hanging them up. And also you should definitely not look at yourself so negatively! In the end its better to find the good or enjoyment in something that many people can't that isn't harming anyone and that is exactly what you did with this.

My NBA fandom started with single players and not teams, so I was a Rockets fan because of Hakeem, and I followed the Bulls because of Jordan. I supported and followed the Knicks because they're my home team, but I settled on the Nets in like 97-98 because they were also local, had a young team that had interesting players like Kerry Kittles, Marbury and KVH... so I;ve stuck with them the last 16 years. The closest I got to your Wade moment was getting Vince Carter.

The Three Alphas were low-key fun, got off to a good start too. Won the first three games, Wade, Rondo, and Butler were hitting their threes, the defense was great, even Michael Carter-Williams looked like a key rotation player. MCW went down in game 6, and the wheels came off for a while. Coincidence? Yeah, probably, especially since he couldn't do anything right once he came back. But they were fun in the weirdest way. Don't talk to me about the one mid-season, lose-lose trade they did though

I feel most Bulls fans are overly cynical because of the 90's Bulls and the expectations that squad put on this franchise. If any Bulls fans are reading this its ok to appreciate a squad without trying to compare it to the god squads of the 90's.
@fortynights151310 ай бұрын
When a franchise has a dynasty team in any sport, fans of that team inevitably compare everything to that team, and oftentimes, things can get overlooked.
@joesmith862210 ай бұрын
Rajon Rondo is not overrated by any means. He isn't even underrated. He's just forgotten lol. To be fair, we never really got a fair power level reading on him because really the Chicago playoff series vs the IT Celtics was supposed to be the chance for Rajon to make a case for being a top 10-top 5 pure PG at the time but he got injured. Its like he was either on teams where there were too many namebrand all stars or just not enough talent around him on the non-bull, non-celtic, non-lakers teams he was a part of
@joesmith862210 ай бұрын
Like the Chicago power level with an old D Wade was probably the best balancing act and best chance for rondo to make the case bolstered by the fact that he would be trying for the 8th seed to the finals but again he got injured. Remember they were up against the IT celtics. 2-1. I would have loved to see it go to 7. It would have. Would IT have made it out the top without an injured rondo...perhaps but it would come down to pacing, coaching, and not terrible shot selection. IT was clutch. So I'm gonna give it to them. Plus, doc isn't coaching so it should be even lol...unless like IT aggravates his hip in game 7 colliding into someone which could very conceivably happen. Its game 7. Its high energy.

Wade was not coming to Chicago in 2010 . Pat Riely made him and Bosch goto meetings all over the east to get contenders with cap space to try and offer huge contracts to possible supporting cast players as incentive to join a team. It's how the Knicks ended up with Stoudemire the hawks ended up with joe Johnson and the bulls traded kirk Heinrich and signed carlos boozer to a massive payday and immediately regretted it. LeBron Bosch and Wade knew they would play together long before the decision. Riely had the idea to try and screw the competition.

I am 1000000% with you. I REALLY think the Bulls could have upset Boston that year. Im shocked you don’t like Rondo, but he was damn near the best player on the court those first two games and I see no reason that wouldn’t have continued to he the case throughout that series. Plus that was the birth of the Jimmy/Wade relationship that led to him being in Miami now. I loved that team. Also, maybe I’m the only one, but I was HUGE Carlos Boozer fan in Chicago 😂😂
