I had my broken wire on the diaphragm soldered by an expert 25 years back.

I also used Parker Chomerics Therm-A-Gap T630 to fix the Break in the Wire, on My 808 And 806 A . Altec Speakers! But I still want to buy an extra diaphragm.

My dad just came across some 846Bs that have a little bit of VC rub in the woofers, I know you said your woofers were fine but I’m looking for some recone kits with correct parts, I was wondering if you can point me in the right direction. I haven’t contacted Great Plains Audio yet but thats the best lead I have.

DO NOT FORCE THE DIAPHRAGM DOWN IF IT DOES NOT GO DOWN FLAT. I used the tip of my soldering gun to melt a bit of the extra plastic inside the opening of the diaphragm or the pin location. Now it sits flat and snug without pushing it down.

Unreal. This guy just woke up in the morning and decided to ruin a classic altec compression driver! For the audience: please don't repeat what this ham-fisted moron is doing! Watch Joseph Crowe video and see what happens to the driver's distortion at the best of times when taking apart these drivers. This a swiss watch maker operation!

You can solder the broken lead wires in the Altec horn diaphragm. I was told this many years ago, when I was using a number of V.O.T. units on the road with rock bands. I've done this many times. If you insist on using bare wire to terminate your leads, tin them with solder. Show some professionalism.
