Panda Garras are amazing! They eat algae, are small, colorful, active, personable, and peaceful.

Would love to see a vid similar to this but with alternatives that would work in smaller tanks. Very interesting and great info including adult sizes. ✌️

I do like gobies. Though I'm mostly partial to the mud skipper gobies. Paludariums are fun to set up and view. I like red tail sharks, I really do! But I cannot be bothered with the aggression issues. I like having a few bottom dwellers ant that's too hard with red tails

In my experience of keeping Reticulated SAEs so far, they are definitely a joy to watch and are ALWAYS searching for food/algae. I have two juveniles and they have been doing an amazing job keeping the algae under control and this is while I’m increasing my light intensity. I also have 3 Amano shrimp as well. My LFS also the same about the Reticulated being better algae eaters than the regular ones. I wish I could get a Panda Garra from my LFS, but they never seem to have them available, and it’s been months unfortunately. Additionally, I wasn’t aware of how Garra species there are.

Totally agree with everything. The only thing I would say is that gobies are short lived. The longest I have kept them is two years

Interesting... I always thought Flying Fox were crummy algae eaters and to avoid them - not so?

Red tailed sharks get too big eventually, so it's best not to sell them to people with smaller tanks. I wish people would quit trying to sell them to new fish owners. Many end up needing to be rehomed and some dumb people throw them in a lake since no one will take them after they are really massive. You can check on youtube how big they get. It's it's inhumane to keep them in a 40 gallon tank when they are full grown. It's not enough room.

The first one is called black racer nerite snail where I get them. They are my favorite of the nerites. They will submarine under the gravel and disappear for a few days. Smarter then other nerites also, they never get stuck in a filter or upside down. Idk how they know but it’s never happened with them.

Thank you so much for this content. I have been looking for alternatives for getting rid of my algae problem for so long now. It's a short, black algae that even overtakes my plants. I thought at first that it was BBA but it never grew long, flowing "hair". It's just short like a buzz haircut. IDK 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♀️

I did not know about 3/4 of these algae eaters. Can you buy online and ship nationwide?
