I'm so excited to share this transfer method I learned in my alternative process photography course I took many years ago.
If alternative process photography is new to you I'd really recommend you to check it out. There are so many different types/ methods to create art.
Materials:
Hand Sanitizer
Brushes
Spoon
Transparency film. I'm using DASS brand.
Inkjet printer
Material to transfer on. I'm using watercolor paper.
*I personally prefer Strathmore cold press, acid free watercolor paper the best. In the video it's the blue font one, NOT the yellow one. The yellow one was too textured. I prefer a smoother surface.
Arches was the most expensive one and I didn't love it.
Remember:
Emulsion side up when putting transfer film in printer (tacky/frosted side up).
Flip/invert the image in photoshop before printing.
Hope you try it out!
If you want to see some of my other alternative process photographs, visit my website. I have a couple in my shop.

Alternate processes are cool and a great distraction from digital photography. I’m sure you know this already but there is a thing called ‘transfer medium’ a whitish cream that hobby shops sell. This cream allows you to transfer images onto different media, paper, ceramic, etc. If you think about it, photography started with what we might call alternate processes; albumin, cyanotype, salt print, tintype. Your house looks cool.

Thanks! I have tried it. But I think I should give it another try. I remember a class mate let me use some of hers and it was fun yet challenging. I tried transferring on pieces of wood, fabric and stone. I love alternative process photography! We made tintypes during my alternative process photography course and it was amazing!

Hiii! I just wanted to say that I found your channel a few days ago and have watched all of your English videos. This is one of my favorite channels by far! So far I have been inspired to pick up my first medium format camera as well as finally finish building my darkroom! Keep it up, you're awesome!!!

Very interesting process you shared and that’s the amazing part of photography that the end result in whatever process attempted makes it fun, interesting and unique. Thanks for sharing your story too, it’s always great to know the background and journey of an artists. We all have a story and through connections with social media we are able to share it like you just did, once again thanks and I’ll stay tuned for your next one😊

This is soo amazingly inspiring. Am going to try this myself. And just a thought, if we cool the sanitizer down with a refrigerator, it won't evaporate that rapidly, atleast theoretically. Then won't it will be must easier to do the process ? Atleast you don't need to do it in a hurry.😅 Just try if you can and let us know

Whoa, awesome. I'm familiar with phototransfer to wood with prints from the laserprinter and photopotch. That process seems interesting as well.

So trying this the transfer pulls up some of the watercolor paper. Any suggestions?

Hi! How long are you leaving the transfer film on the watercolor paper before pulling it off? I do no more than 5 minutes. Maybe you're leaving it on for too long? Thats all I can think of at the moment. But I'll think of other possibilities. Let me know! :)
