If i learned one thing in the 20 years working on my cars its to always use the right tool for the right job. Stripping that bolt was totally unnecessary. Should have used a much bigger philips head screwdriver 🪛 and used manual force. Power tools have their place and application, but not this one. In all cases; thank you very much for the informative and detailed video ❤

Excellent video, very informative. Most of the ones I've seen do not show how to replace the slip ring but you have excellent detail here. I will need to replace the one on my '98 BMW 328i. I already took care of the bearings, but one of the slip rings was deeply grooved, similarly to yours, if not worse. I'll only need to remove the back half of the case, since the rest has been worked on. Looks like a relatively straightforward job, just need to be careful. Thank you!

Very good , just a tip from an old guy , when any screw won,t come out , spend a little time heating the housing where the threaded part of the screw that won,t shift is screwed in , with a hot air gun when the parent metal is alloy like this , as the screw was probably loctited in . Loctite will soften a bit when warmed up , so hopefully , with a screwdriver or other proprietory wrench that gets the best grip possible on the stuck screw , it will crack free & come out . Ha this proves my theory that some mystical force pertains to the last bolt, screw, part, procedure, or plain ole last job. If its gonna break, or be a hassle its the last bolt.

Always soak any nut or bolt with penetrating oil before taking apart, that phillips you stripped didn’t have to happen 😢
