Thank you for a great video, just replaced the alternator on my Focus 2008 flexi fuel. I found that it was easier (for me) to unbolt the alternator before removing the power cable. That way I could tilt the alternator which made it easier to reach the nut holding the cable.

I done this on my 1.6 ford focus 55 plate bit off a night putting the belts back on as mine didnt have a automatic tensioner and i had to use some speacial tools form ford which was a pain. My alternator was slightly different to so had to do a little bit off filing.

hello Jim! i have a focus 2006, 1.8 tdci. my car has some issues: there is not enough voltage on side mirror lights (puddle lights) so they are not working. the parking module is not working either (sensors are ok). the trip computer on the dashboard has some issues: it goes crazy and scrolls by itself through all the menus, and once the mode switch stick is used, it is stopped at the given menu and STUCK at the same one. sometimes it works normally, sometimes it wont and it goes crazy like that. do you know what could be the problem? the car had an accident before it was imported to my country (and was repaired) but i dont know how big was the damage. the car doesnt have any other problems, whatsoever. btw i tried sanding and cleaning all 4 or 5 ground wiring connections under the bonnet, and it seemed to help a little bit, but its still not fixed. cheers

also, the error that is read on the dashboard using my OBD2: B2286: Trip Computer Mode Switch Short to Ground

Hi!, Well its going to be impossible for me to try diagnose all that list without actually having the car and doing tests, however the very first place I would probably start is looking at the wiring, possibly around the area where it may have been crash damaged , you may find theres a short somewhere or two exposed wires touching, id then if that all turned out ok be looking at modules etc.. is that the only code you had show up on your reader?

Have you also tried the basics first for puddle lights etc ( checked fuses and bulbs) and it may even be just the switch/ stalk for the dash issue but like I said its almost impossible to tell without physically looking and testing the car. 👍

@@ALLTHINGSJIM i checked all fuses and relays they are all ok. tried different bulbs, the ordinary ones wont even lighten up a tiny bit, and on the other hand, leds wont work at all. yes that is the only code. i think it had been damaged on the front right side, because the right side mirror is repaired with a what it seems to be a hot air gun and/or soldering iron. the unimeter does show around 13.9 volts. dont worry if we dont figure anything out, it doesnt really matter that much, its just a bit of a pain to the eye (im not sure if all of these faults can cause any further damage to other components). at the official ford service they said it would need a very thorough examination, but i just think they are either lazy or wanna keep the car for as long as possible to increase their hourly income. (im in bosnia tho)

I can't see a tensioner anywhere to remove the belts without cutting them. I have a 2009 1.6 Zetec petrol.

You may have the model fitted with a "streachy belt" in that case its easier to cut it off and buy the genuine ford belt as it comes with a handy tool to fit them which saves you buying a tool that wont work very well 👍

Hi Jim, Need to do my belts on my 2010 focus 1.8 with the pivoting top pulley. Is there a special tool to pivot this or can I use a screwdriver. Thanks

Thanks. All the other videos for my 2007 2.0L petrol had different mounting to mine...which is more like your 2008 1.8. Music was really annoying (ideal is no music at all) but your tip to pull the headlight out was very useful.
