The 99.5 and up had a 140 Amp alternator that was available as an option from the factory. I know because I ordered one. They were also standard with the ambulance vehicles. I'm talking about the ones with diesels. I believe some engines earlier than 99.5 models had 2 alternators, I recall an upper and a lower position from reading the factory manual. Anyway, I believe my alternator has the larger case. I've never had any issues with lack of cranking amps and the batteries last longer with a larger alternator. So far, I've only had to refresh my batteries once since it was new. My F250 was delivered in June of 98, but it is a "99.5" model.

It sounds like you should just put the 2 washers under the 3 mounting holes and that's it.

hey Alternatorman, how many amps is the new one? my original 06 diesel alternator installed from dealer 2 years ago failed I was running two high end amps in my work van and thought that the demand caused it to fail, so my question is how many amps is the new one? .Oh your video just said 140 amps. and all the way up to 250 amp that's what I wanted to know what was your higher amp rating alternator you have. I will visit the link to get the pricing. and thanks for the informative videos on rebuild alternators know what went bad on the old one etc. My failed alternator that's 2 years old was done at a ford dealer here in Goodyear AZ just pulled it out and a sticker on the alternator said remanufactured I said wow I never new I paid for a rebuilt alternator and also assumed as in past practice that dealer put in new genuine parts I think I have scammed or not informed of this practice they probable pulled it out seen what was wrong replaced the part and put it back in, I will be going down there to settle this issues
