Great video man. You're one good daddy. Your kid is in the video helping in asking questions and willing to actually work. You have taught your child well and given them a lot more insight to the world even at a young age it's a good thing dude. Great job

16mm for the tensioner and the idler pulley. you don't need to remove the bottom alternator bolt, just loosen the bracket is slotted. I removed the rad overflow bottle, radiator support and power steering pump because they were really easy to take out and make getting at the wiring on the alternator soooooooo much easier.

It's all good man I wish you the best of luck on it and remember if your alternator is charging but just making a lot of noise then of course you can just replace the bearing that the belt rides on and you can get that from Amazon.

Thanks, I think the alternator is bad cause I'm getting a battery light and lightning bolt on the dash I got the battery tested they said it's good

Hey i got the new alternator in it took 3 hours but I managed to do it. the car is running good hardest part was taking it out but everything went smooth after that

What's the ticking sound on the engine after the alternator was replaced? I'm thinking of buying one but I'm concerned about the ticking.

Maybe a bad belt or the belt is not installed correctly. Not sure I would have to hear it

The part you can't hear is the part about the air conditioner 3:12 where the screws are at

Easier to remove the power steering pump and one idler pulley after removing belts. Tensioner pulley is 16mm and lifts up counter clockwise. Remover the power steering pump and lay on top of engine. Remove one idler pulley and the. Remove the alternator bolts and wiggle out of it's bracket. Install is opposite of dismantle.

question I had my alternator replaced by a mechanic here in my town and now I dont have cold air blowing from my ac but my ac worked fine prior to this repair could they have done something to my ac compressor? I have an 08 dodge caliber.

How would I just change the wire to alternator?

I would have to re-watch the video but it seems like I couldn't get to the wires unless I had loosen the alternator but I just don't remember

Sorry about the late reply I got busy with a birthday party. Anyway the car that I have here I am doing a head gasket job on it and most definitely you can replace the alternator wire but it looks like you would have to remove the intake that would probably be the easiest way to get that job done

Well that sure was a pain in the butt to do laying on the ground 3 degrees above freezing with the car in a hardware store parking lot lol pully had totally seized so couldn't even drive it home to my garage.

@@DavidTheMechanic sure did, I was sure I had to disconnect the ac lines and fully remove the compressor to get the alternator out. I never would have thought you could move it aside enough, so that saved a ton of headache, not to mention the expense of recharging it, plus of course the pollution of releasing it all in the first place. Thanks again for posting this.

@@DavidTheMechanic quick question did your battery light go before all this cause my battery light is on and I changed the battery and alternator and the light is still on

@@markb8035 I recommend that you check the alternator fuse. First verify that you're getting between 13.5 and 14.5 volts at the battery if not then you have an electrical problem and in most cases it's a simple as a blown alternator fuse they blow sometimes when the alternator goes bad. And I would also take your old alternator to AutoZone or somewhere like that and have them test it to verify that it was even bad
