Hey man. I would say to do negative then positive in this situation. As unfortunately, dodge almost intended to electrocute all of their consumers, and putting on the negative terminal second leaves you hovering over the positive terminal as you tighten it. Please just do positive first, and then use an extension and swivel socket to get the negative terminal

I'm working on mine 2008 Odyssey now. Thank you for this helpful video. A curious note: my tension pully has nuts on the wheels so I just put the socket on the top one and moved ccw to create slack. Also, I started last night but didnt finish yet. The lower bolt on the alternator is barely moving so it'lll take forever to remove. I am following your lead with minimalist removal. About to pour some coffee and get to it!

What's the ticking sound on the engine after the alternator was replaced? I'm thinking of buying one but I'm concerned about the ticking.

I was told from someone that works on transmissions that my unit is a sealed unit and it's meant for the life of the car? So is this correct or do you have to change it?
@DavidTheMechanic5 ай бұрын
That is correct it's not supposed to be serviced however you can service it has a filter and everything. There's just special procedures to follow
@nickgurlpa5 ай бұрын
@@DavidTheMechanic Thank you for getting back to me do you think I did irreversible damage by not changing it since I've gotten it which was at 63,000 mi and now it's over 200,000? 🥺
@DavidTheMechanic5 ай бұрын
@nickgurlpa no I don't think that service is any issue. But mileage is. I don't think that I have ever seen a CVT last much longer than 150,000 to 175,000. This particular one was a really bad design. Also it's been my experience that no one will work on them. It will probably have to be replaced.
@nickgurlpa5 ай бұрын
@@DavidTheMechanic I get what you're saying so it's not so much the non-servicing it's just All parts don't last forever basically I'm the mileage of the transmission being used will wear. Sucks... It's The only car we have right now and we love it so much. Thank you for all your advice.

DO NOT DO THIS! The transmision will be over 2 qts low! Thats not what that plug is for. Total rebuild requires 10.4 qts. Filter change requires 4 to 5 qts. Buy a dip stick and check it properly while the engine is running.
