TIP: .. I take one of expired gift cards or those plastic sample credit cards you get in the mail and I wrap it with orange duct tape.. it's amazing how much duct tape you can wrap and it still stays nice and flat and lightweight.. I like orange the duct tape not just for repairs but you can use it as a flagging tape Stick it to trees and branches to mark your way so you don't get lost.. the compass I like to put in my kits is the brunton wrist compass.. it has a rotating bezel and degree marks and is much much better than a little button compasses

You can survive on fire and water . Keychain light and a razor would be next . You can do it with an Altoid Smalls tin . Those produce bags at the grocery store will hold water and they fit if you fold them and roll them up .. I use waterproof matches they are cheap . Add a ferro rod if you want . Aqua tabs too of course

@@procaliberhq cool , you'll be one of only about 3 other guys that did an overnight with just the things inside the tin .. I made the above comment because all altoid survival kit videos have people in the comments saying an Altoid tin isn't enough to survive when really you just need fire and water .

I personally use a slightly larger stainless steel or titanium can which allows me to boil water inside of it. It still fits nicely into a pocket and the amount of gear you hold inside can keep you alive for weeks if need be

Put metal duct work tape on one side of the foil to make it more durable. Just make sure the metal duct work tape side is the fireside of your homemade container.

Well, if all else fails, you actually could boil the water in the altoids tin, even tho that's as much of a pain in the backside as boiling it in the the foil. But, it beats not having anything.

HINT : .. I always put in my kit a Swiss army SD mini keychain knife.. blade... Fingernail file with screwdriver tip (can be used to file more than just nails.. also screwdriver tip works well on standard screws in and a pinch Phillips head screws).. one of the world's best scissors.. a fantastic tweezers.. and a toothpick.... All of this in a tiny little keychain knife you can get on sale for $10... My dad gave me my first victorinox SD keychain knife back in 1979 and I have had them on my keychains ever since

Dang good looking shelter! A couple things I keep in my altoids tin, I got a few straws stuffed with cotton balls and sealed on both ends, I cut them down to fit in the tin of course, make really good water proof tender bundles. Also some crayons, because they burn almost like a candle. I would throw that wire saw over the hill lol looked like you could have used that card thing to cut it faster than it did. Great video!!

Good thinking on the quick improvised spoon! Nice video, thanks for sharing. I just found your channel, nice job. As a side note on my channel, I put up a video called 'pocket hiking kit perfection' which is a little bit bigger than a standard altoids tin but can carry more resources. If you ever get a chance, maybe check it out for ideas on what you could do with a little bigger tin that you could still carry on you if you want a bit more resources than an altoids tin can carry. Anyway thanks for sharing.

@@procaliberhq Did it? Survival is about conserving energy--not expending energy. As stated in the video, that was a lot of work. It took a lot of time. Normally, I would cut something that small with my knife or a hatchet. Soft, green wood like that cuts easily with a knife or hatchet, but not so well with a saw. I understand you were limited to what was in the tin. If used efficiently, you could have done that job with the saw in 1/3 of the time, and 2/3 of the effort.

@@procaliberhq Sure. In fairness, I will point out that many people--even after watching your video--would not be able to do what you did with such ease. That is hard, but looked fairly easy. It takes a lot of knowledge and practice. There are always unexpected issues.
