I have the Olympus 4 and the ride was great and fits me well US 9.5 size, I'm looking to get these LP5 but cautious when you mentioned you did go half size up. I bought Altra shoes online.

I think I've realized I've had shoes a half size too small in all of my Altras and that's probably why I've lost so many toenails 😂. If you stick with the same size you usually wear and they fit great you should be fine to stay where you are. I like having just a bit more room to the end of my toes so they don't hit as many rocks when I inevitably kick one on a trail run.

Great review! I'm using my second pair of LP 4.5, but yet looking forward to but and test the improvements of LP 5 you described. It would be nice to hear about your experience with them after the 100 miles' run, as from time to time I like to run half of this distance and with the LP 4.5 I agree with you that the response of the mid sole is a little bit poor. Thanks for your videos 👍🏻

I have 63 miles so far on the shoes and they are holding up well. They are extremely comfortable on all kinds of nasty terrain. I also use Superior 5’s and have run almost 60 miles in those, but a couple of times I’ve stepped on a rock in the superiors and hit a tender spot I felt through the sole of the shoe. Haven’t had that happen yet in the LP 5.0s

Love the LP 5! I’ve stuck with the 3 for the longest time. Bought the 4 and 4.5 snd didn’t like as they were too soft. This is much better.

I’ve watched other reviews that said similar things that were negative about the last two versions, but that they fixed quite a few things with the 5.0.

I run only in Altra, luckily I had run in plenty before I had the LP4, they were dreadful, sloppy, too soft, and fell apart at under 100 miles. Been using the timp ever since.

I just bought these.. as i often run in the woods here, but at the same time its 5km away from where i live so i have to run alot on concrete as well. Do u think they are good at that as well? These are my first Altra shoes.. I've been using vivobarefoot, but doing these long runs my feet and ancles are always sore. I've been sore for 3 months trying to get used to them. So i thought I'll be using these for like 5k + runs and vivo for short sprints and runs... and ofcourse as a daily shoes.. great review btw 🙌🥳🤩

I too am forced to run on cement at times and they are great. They still give good cushion for those hard surfaces but have the grip needed for rugged trails. They’re one of my favorite trail shoes ever!

The King MT 2 is my all-time favorite Altra shoe. Sadly, they axed it.

As a spoiler I’ll tell you they’re both incredible shoes, but the Lone Peaks outperformed with nasty downhill technical sections. Otherwise I noticed almost no difference as they’re both phenomenal.

Awesome video I hope they will go on sale again like they did on memorial day weekend on some sites, a question..I hurt my left heel landing on a sharp rock and I have a pain that doesn't go away any exercises or stretches or any advise for it? It mainly only hurts when I wake up
@trainspartan4464

@@jesurunblends you can try massaging using a frozen water bottle and rolling it under your heel. Walking around in the grass barefoot for 10-15 minutes a day, or another soft surface might help. If you bruised the heel it should get better over the next 1-2 weeks. Plantar fasciitis can cause pain in the heel also and is caused by inflammation. Taking an exercise band and pushing against it with your toes and end of your foot can help some. I’m going to do some running injury videos soon and they may help. If you have a lot of pain that isn’t getting better I’d see a doctor or other medical provider to make sure you don’t have a more serious injury

Hey man. Great content. Can you make a detalied video for obese people who want to get into running. As obese people have a higher chance and worst consequence from a leg injury. Do we need to change our step from heel to ball of foot? how should we start? kinda like couch to 50k but for obese people. Thanks
@trainspartan4464
@trainspartan4464 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I would love to help more people get into running and ultra-distances. I made a couch to 50K video a while ago, but I think I need to make some updates and release a new version. I think anyone can get into running and can build up to super long distances with the right training and determination. I think one of the biggest challenges for those with more weight is the added strain to the legs with impact, and so the need to slowly build up and go at lower effort levels to prevent injury. Rob with the Training for Ultra podcast may be a good resource as he started running and was dealing with his weight when he got started. Now he has finished several 200 mile races. Give his stuff a listen and thanks for the feedback!
