Thanks for the first-look review! I am in the middle of deciding between LP6 and LP7. Will be waiting for your follow-up on LP7. :) Always lose my Big toenail after every hike and hope Lone Peaks would be a better fit for me.

I really liked the LP6. Maybe not the most popular versus other editions but the LP6 was my favorite. Haven’t bought the LP7. I will at some point.

The LP6 is a favorite of mine too! If it had a Vibram outsole it would be near perfect in my opinion. I've been digging some of the updates with the LP7 so far.

I really enjoyed my 6 as well and now that they're on sale I just bought myself another 2 pairs. Still not sure about the 7. still not sure about the change to the toebox and the heelcup in 7.

I have high praise for the Topo Athletic Pursuit, their first foray into a foot-shaped, high cushion, zero drop shoe. It has a great Vibram outsole and is waaayy more durable than any of the Altras I've ever had... 4 iterations of the Lone Peak, 5 of the Olympus, 1 Superior, 2 Timp versions, the Mont Blanc, and 2 versions of the King MT ( my all-time favorite Altra). The cushioning on the Pursuit is right in between the Timp and Olympus, and it has a knit upper.

@drytool Nice! It sounds like you've found a great shoe that works for you. Thanks for sharing. The King MT was fantastic! I hope it gets released again in the future.

not sure what makes topo better or why people are saying they "kill altra" ? they have zero style, look like designs from like 15 years ago if even that. and where there are any it looks like it's a ripoff of literally any other shoe on the market.

Great video! I love LP6! It's a big back off that LP7 has no toe stech😭

4.5's were the best. Looked great, unlike these later models which don't look that distinctive and verge on clown-shoe-like vibes. Plus the comfort (and breathability) of the 4.5's was better than some 6's I recently tried but had to send back. Lesson learned - I should have bought another pair (or two) of 4.5's while they were still available! They are probably the best most comfortable walking or hiking, or any shoes, I've ever had. Love them.

brendonp4630, Sorry to hear the LP6 didn't work out for you. The 6 is a favorite of mine compared to others over the years and though I enjoyed the 4.5, it felt a bit off to me. I'm happy that the shoe worked well for you! Yeah, they always seem to be changing each year, definitely good to get a an extra pair or two if you can. Thanks for commenting and watching my video.

I agree that the 4.5s were the apogee of altras cool look
@stevenshorten6184
@stevenshorten6184 Жыл бұрын
@@Bonddeeee the retro look could've continued but after the acquisition of Altra, the new management wanted to "modernize" the look from the classic stitched look to more seamless construction. I preferred the more stitchy look for the Lone Peak but it's all personal preference. As an aside, the artwork on the side of the shoe is the actual lone peak mountain in Utah. It's pretty authentic. The color blocking and style was meant to mimic old national park posters.

Long time Lone Peak wearer, I have found that Altra LP new versions are hit or miss. 3 was great (still have 1 unused pair), 4 and 4.5 sucked (uppers didn't have the feel and soles wore out fast), 5 was better and 6 was back to the same feel I had with the 3 (picked up 2 new pairs when they went on sale). So looking forward to trying the 7.

@wolfeadventures, A nice and noticeable update to the 7. I enjoyed the feel of the 6, but footwear is also going to be subjective and one of the most personal choices we hikers make. I could be an anomaly too =). Looking forward to seeing how the reinforced heel and other updates with the 7 perform over time.

Hi Matt , I Saw that you are able to use Lone peak to walk and hike on snow. Shoes are not waterproof. Ain't your feet gonna be wet and cold ?
@matjobin
@matjobin Жыл бұрын
There are two different pairs shown in my video. The pair where I am walking on ice and snow are the waterproof Lone Peak 4 Mid RSM. The pair that I am running through the snow with are the non-waterproof Lone Peak 5. I normally run warm. I had used the Lone Peak Mid RSM for winter only for the last few years and never got too wet or cold, aside from the usual sweat build-up associated with wearing waterproof footwear. I retired them at the end of last winter and now use the Olympus 5 Mid GTX. For the non-waterproof Lone Peaks, I like to wear waterproof socks if I am using them in the snow in the winter. My feet stay fairly warm and dry for a while but eventually the socks get wet inside from sweat just like any waterproof footwear.

I am looking into getting my first pair of Altra with the Line Peak 7. I have wide flat feet and have a hard time finding shoes that don't hurt and last. How would you rate the 7s in those areas? And is it worth the price tag?
@matjobin
@matjobin 8 ай бұрын
@michaelkinneymedia Nice! If needed, the LP 7 comes in a wide option too. Footwear is going to be very subjective with each of our feet being built differently. So I can't say for sure if the shoe will be right for you or if it will hurt. I’ve found them to be a comfortable shoe for me and one that fits well. For longevity, I've been happy with them. One of my previous pairs of Lone Peak 6 made it to around 800 trail miles. My current Lone Peak 7 is above 400 trail miles. The only issue I had with them was some delimitation around the welded toe guard on the upper. I added a little Aquaseal to address it and it hasn't been an issue since. A lot will influence the wear but since the average life of a trail running shoe is 300-500 miles, so I feel it has been worth it for me. I still prefer the LP6 and find them to be a bit more spacious than the LP7, but the 7 has still been a solid shoe. Hope that helps. Best of luck!

Which is better, LP7 or Olympus 5?😅
@matjobin
@matjobin Жыл бұрын
ronmadrid6605, It’s too soon for me to tell with the limited mileage I currently have on the Lone Peak 7. It’s going to take a little more time for me to get used to the look of the updated shoe, but the Lone Peak has been my favorite and my go-to for years with the past iterations. I prefer the ground feel, lower stack height, fit and overall build of the shoe. The Olympus 5 is a great shoe, but I still prefer the Olympus 4 more.
