I found the conversation between Father and Grandmother interesting, because Father is team knowledge while Grandmother is team life (without knowledge). Maybe Father and Grandmother aren't Adam and Eve, but the Tree of Knowledge and Tree of Life, metaphorically.

Anybody catch grandma saying they shouldn't eat the devolved creatures because "it causes problems." Remember in Season 1 where they devoted an episode to the group killing and eating the devolved creatures. Remember that Campion didn't. They also made an effort to emphasize that Campion didn't eat the Sue fruit so it's likely related.

I have a few things to say, not in any partycular order: * Grandmother started to devolve Tempest's baby when it' still was in a womb, that's why acid didn't burn it. The game is played by stepping into it, I think. We see Campion touching hologram with his hand, and the skin on his hand is first to become acid proof. * There was always a mystery of where the creatures came from in S1, and it was always speculated, that something on the Mythraic ship caused them to appear. But now, with Decima's reelation that Mythraic relics are massproduced and not one-of-a-kind, we can safely assume that the crash may have caused existing human population to devolve into creatures * It's interesting, that Tempest finds herself killing mother creatures (S1) or being the cause of their death (this season) * Grandmother always calls Mother by her Lamia name, the only other character who does this is Marcus * Father's comment about Mother having so much emotion made me think that the veil would grow to compensate for that, but it seems GM backstabbed her * Mother most certainly understands what getting rid of the veil would do to her (she did kill her son afterall), that's why I think she refuses to remove it * Father totally f*ed up when he gave GM all the info on human colony, focing her to launch her plan to devolde humans and lul the Entity to slumber for another thousand or so years * I wonder if Mother will see fake Sturges again, now that she's in a sim * Mythraic sciptures are probably of Tecnocrats' origin, so it's either very ironic they were turned into a religion, or Believers somehow hijacked them * native population of Kepler may have been the second evolution of humans after GM's side devolved them (because evolution doesn't naturally stop), and it was them developing sense of self and primitive civilization, that awakened the Entity

I love the pacing and I find the "unresolved mysteries" to be more "world-building" instead. There's a whole lot going on but it's intriguing.

For the Buddhism suffering thought: It is okay to care, to have feelings, to love. It's more about being present for those emotions and letting it go naturally. It is when you try to hold onto things/concepts like happiness or wealth or wellness and you lose it, then there is suffering. Everything changes and to try to stop or not accept it will cause suffering.

I'm only about halfway through so I don't know if it's discussed, but we keep talking about prehistoric Kepler 22b like it was a progenitor of the same exact conflict that we saw on earth, Mithraics vs. Atheists, and to me that's very silly. I don't think the technocrats and sol's believers were just ancient atheists/mithraics at all. I think when humans left Kepler 22b, they brought records with them (about sol's M.O. and their history on Kepler), as well as technical manuals, and that information was misunderstood and changed and devolved over time and turned into a religion by the earth Mithraics. It makes sense, both logically (these documents are way older than real-life religious texts that have been reinterpreted until unrecognizable, they had way more time to devolve) and thematically (the tendency of people to invent a religion out of anything). in archaeology we have a tendency to interpret things as being pure tradition, ritual, belief, myth, whatever, when often there's actually a practical explanation. Sign me up for Team The-Mithraic-Texts-Are-Just-Misinterpreted-Kepler-History-And-Tech-Books. On earth the humans read a book that said like "the voice of sol will lead you to grow the tree of knowledge" which obviously is a record/warning about the seeds, but without that context they were like "oh rad, this dude sol seems pretty cool." Also the snake's tendrils were heating up at the base as it was chasing Paul. When it fully weaponizes its tendrils absolutely shine with fire and it looks like the sun, specifically like the wiggly-tendriled mithrac sol symbol.

An interesting take. I feel the devolved form of the humans harkens to the state of Adam and Eve before they ate the apple and self actualized (at which point they were cast out by god). I feel the story both in the show and in the text shows the true cost of getting to a heaven or heaven like state, which would be to give up what you are and regress.

With the whole Paul can read the robot text thing, keep in mind they spent a long time in the simulation on the way to K22b, its not impossible for him to have learned this but they definitely should have mentioned it before.

Grandmother and the Shepherds went into dormancy, once they've devolved the entire planet. The Technocrats became the Mithraic, turning to Sol to help in their fight with the program they created. The war lasts long enough for them to create a mythology around Sol, and when they finally lose the war, they reprogram Shepherds and send them to earth along with the scriptures to keep humanity alive.

Lack of attachment does mean not caring. It means letting go of the outcomes of your caring.

Marcus ate the fruit, so when he made contact with the tree it uploaded sol in him and changed him. Watch out for others that are the fruit, as they might turn into the same thing as Marcus.

What came first, Sol or Grandmother? Seems to me like Sol is trying to save humanity from being devolved into animals. I don't know if the Necro-snake wanted to kill Campion, but perhaps just wanted to scare Campion to run out of the EMP field-zone. I thought this when the Necro-snake seemed to shoot the water to show Campion it wasn't safe to go that way. If by chance the Necro-snake is destroyed, it would still destroy the EMP field protecting the humans from Sol's influence. I think the technocrats put their faith into technology to perhaps help them expand beyond the limits of their reason, saw emotion was hindering that progress so they developed the veil which prompted Grandmother to develop her final solution to the problem of humanity. Technocrats then rediscovered the importance of emotion and humanity, and they created something in the planet's core so Grandmother couldn't get to it and destroy it. Grandmother is promising everlasting life, making her, and perhaps technology in general, a false prophet. Marcus becomes the anti-christ, or Satan (sometimes also a serpent), which originally was considered the bringer of light and truth which will pave the way for the real savior. He was perhaps chosen over Luscious to be the anti-christ BECAUSE Marcus no longer sees the entity, Sol, as a God. It's the worshipping and putting faith into something else that they consider "higher" than humanity that is the human folly. Prayers will be unanswered from whichever entity humans put their irrational faith into, Sol or Grandmother. In the end, only humanity can save itself, it must solve its own problems, find divinity in itself. Season 3 I think will be the humans dealing with nuclear winter, food scarcity, warmth, non-confining space, and shelter issues causing turmoil and conflict, even war within the community as people need and want these things. All of which is solved by devolving the humans into sea creatures, where the water is warm and there's plenty of space and food. Some might even chose to devolve willingly. The new computer game seems to be an attempt to placate and distract while others are being devolved and disappearing. This is what seems to be what grandmother means when she tells mother that she will understand later. The humans are going to fight over resources, better they be devolved than let them kill each other.

It definitely has a Book of Enoch vibe to it. Fallen angels who betrayed God to come down to earth and bang human women and create the nephilim (the Giants - aka, the serpents) and are punished by being imprisoned within the earth where they try to manipulate people and find ways to escape. Also the entity in the core could be something similar to the demiurge.

Oh my god wait- I just had a thought- Campion mentioned how the water is warm, and his skin is evolving because the acid isn’t hurting him etc etc…well he DIDNT eat from the Tree of Knowledge! So what if all of the people who did eat from the tree won’t devolve/ or at least devolve as fast as the people who didn’t eat the fruit? So eating the sue-fruit is actually a good thing in this instance?

I thought there was quite a bit of answering. The mysteries seem more plentiful but they're also more focused. We know that the main conflict is with sol. The main thing is that we don't know what Sol is yet. Basically everything on the show will be explained once we learn what sole is.

It seems like the planet is the entity's prison, the signal emits forever as the only way for it to communicate with humans. Once the life tree is eaten by the snake the entity's signal is weakened again, but Lucius nailing Marcus to the tree is tapping Marcus to the source, and he has eaten the fruit. Don't know if that was necessary for the entity to inhabit Marcus but it seems important.. Just guesses. Edit: the helmet might increase the signal too

Wanting things is natural as is that we don't always get those desired things so it is best to learn how to let go, not holding onto it so you suffer a bit less and for a shorter amount of time. At least that is how I interpret it and wouldn't call the philosophy or the intention behind it stupid, dumb or whatever you said. Sol is the necessary conterpart of technocrats. This is amazing because the human-tree-planting & serpent-birthing entity might truly represent the best interst of humanity. Season 1 and 2 setup Sol and his follower to be the villains. But it's so interesting that we might need Sol to contest grandmother (GM). On one side, technocrats wants to devolve human into beasts; On the other hand Sol wants to preserve human intelligence, although via human sacrifice. Which one is the lesser evil? Or is human destined to struggle between the two forces and infinitely repeat history. When grandmother talking about the entity wants to destroy the world. She might be saying in terms of humanity wants to greedily expand and harvest all the resources, and as a side effect destroy the planet. Not intentionally suicidal. I think in the begining human created GM to help humanity evolve. But GM realized human expansion cannot sustain, and realied she need to devolve human race to insure it's longevity. So remaining human became the believers, and created and Sol (might be an AI or hive mind, because Sol said in simulation he's human and many things). Sol created serpent as the "sword". They fought for years. The believers lost, they sent out an ark, and Sol became dormant. Lastly, I'm guessing whomever ate the sue fruit will be protected (to some degree) against the brainwash video game, or even GM's devolution. And I'm glad Marcus got new powers with the old Sue tree from serpent dead body. Maybe the couple will unit in consciousness somehow? Marcus(anti-christ pose) is definitely a counterpart of mother(christ pose). I hope he will be an avatar of Sol to combat GM's agenda. Maybe Christ and Aiti-Christ fight together against GM? The conversation between GM and Marcus really foreshadows their future dynamic.

Vrill's code being the beginning of scripture: yes, and given that Mithraic scriptures had encoded secrets of technology in them, maybe Vrill's memories and her compulsion to write them down also hint at a message hidden deeper than just some basic android encryption (what Paul saw was probably more like a cypher, but what do I know.. ). And given that her mother was profiteering from weapon sells, maybe it will be something about weapon designs that could help them fight Sol (alternatively, it could be another trap from Sol, like a supposed weapon to kill Sol that really will only release it from its planetary prison).

16:08 neurologically speaking, emotions are linked to a primitive brain region - the limbic system. It makes sense as in robots being a recreation of human thinking that they need to supress this "primitive" part creating a device for it. It will also be interesting seeing the effect that those emotions will have in Grandmother now that she doesnt have the veil anymore.

I think the line gm says about altering the equation is proof shes going off script from her original creators goal. I think she was tasked with a similar goal as mother and father only she toke a more cold logical route. Where as mother as Sturgis claims is special because she may actually have emotions and maybe a degree of consciousness.
