I've had my *Everlast PowerTIG 255EXT* for several years now and I have no big complaints. I suppose, like everyone else, I'm annoyed they put the gas inlet in the middle of the back panel (hits the bottle) but a 90 deg fitting fixed that fairly well. I kinda wish it would remember my last settings without explicitly saving them, but mechanical knobs have to have SOME advantage in our digital world, and this is it. I upgraded to a CK Flex-Loc water-cooled torch with superflex hoses, and it took me a while to build a cooler because I put a Sparkfun MicroView (Arduino type) microcontroller on it. This ensures adequate flow before passing the weld command to the welder, and also shuts off the noisy carbonator pump when not welding and all the temps are near ambient. Because I'm stupid, I also put an argon pressure switch in the weld command circuit so I will never again forget to turn on the gas!

Mr Winchester: as a hobbyist, beginner, I really appreciate the quality videos you are producing using your years of experience. I know I’m fortunate to have a great set up with the MTS 275 and cooler. The time and effort you are putting in is motivating me to study, practice and enjoy the art.

Finally a video with actual information for people actively having issues. Most of them just give you the same basic tips that apply to steel and stainless.

This comment is not meant to be rude at all. I appreciate the video it was very helpful. Post disclaimer here’s my observation: I’ve met 3 people in my life that struggled pronouncing the word Aluminum. It comes out as aluninim or alumimum. All 3 of those guys struggled in school. All 3 of those guys have extremely high ability level not just in fabrication/welding but in any hand eye coordination work in general. It’s weird!

This is the best tutorial vid I've seen so far on ali tig welding for the novice! I've learned more in this 8 or so minutes than in all my practicing so far! Most significant info is on the machine settings and what they all actually do. I've asked many working pro welders what all the controls do and non have really known or been able to explain their actual function and effect. Most have said oh don't worry about that, just set the controls like this and go! Thanks guys.

Thank you Mark for this great video. After about two decades of hobby MIG welding, I bought a TIG machine last summer with a goal to do some aluminum work. I have not been able to find any resources to explain what the key variables are, and how and when to adjust them to get different results. After watching this video, I was able to just set my machine and GO and go results that I am not ashamed of. Still not getting results I want to brag about, but I am headed in that direction. THANK YOU!!!
