The lyrics, for you people. Walking through the trees, I never really know what's on your mind Is it ever me, or just someone you've left behind? Floating through a dream, I never could make out the words you said Sentences are bouncing back and forth inside my head You don't have to leave, you could just stay here with me Forget all the party police, we can find comfort in debauchery Fighting through the fog, I can't believe it rained all summer long When every day's a hurricane, you know there's something wrong I see you every day, it's hard to figure out what happens next I cannot decipher conversation in your head You don't have to leave, you could just stay here with me Forget all the party police, we can find comfort in debauchery You don't have to leave, you could just stay here with me Forget all the local police, we can find comfort in biology We wrote our names on the overpass and I hope it lasts forever Don't have to You don't have to You don't have to leave, you could just stay here with me Forget all the party police, we could find comfort in debauchery You don't have to leave, you could just stay here with me Forget all the local police, we could find- If you don't want to, you don't have to

this song makes my heart skip a beat. it gives me a nostalgic feeling of happiness and it’s such a beautiful feeling. some days it makes me feel like I’m desperately in love and some days it makes me feel like I’m about to die. and both ways it’s just the most amazing thing.

Great song. Reminds me of the disappointments of my youth, the wanting. But how precious all that is. Well said darbonify - melancholy, hopeful, and I would add from the perspective of age, poignant.

This song basically sums up every relationship I've ever had. It really encompasses the sense of pleading for someone to refrain from abandoning you but not wanting to make them stay against their will on your account. I loved the whole album but this song holds a particularly special place in my heart. I love the melody and just all of it. :)

This has gone from a good song on a good album to one of my all time favorite songs on one of my all time favorite albums in a few months time. Such incredible sensitivity in the verse melody. Arguably, of the contemporaries, only Stuart Murdoch or James Mercer could write something like this. The song for me is fragile and melancholy but also hopeful and comforting. I haven't been taken or moved by new music in a very long time. Thank you!
@ledgebox9 жыл бұрын
I agree it's very melancholic but gives me hope... I think a lot of people could relate to it. Which is the mark of a great track in my opinion...

darbonify verywell said... i think its also the unique inflection of her voice that makes it so special, her tone changes from happy to somber mid verse in a fluent way that few vocalists can match

Why does this song makes me just sad? It's like I just feel regret not doing the things in my past, while I am just 19 years old. I feel my life will walkthrough so quickly and then I'll listen to this song and feel that I've been swallowed to a deep hole and all options left is just to lay down and give up.
