Michael Anthony's vocals add so much to Van Halen's sound. His bass playing is of course the best, but he truly rounded out the vocals of both David Lee Roth and later Sammy Hagar.

Can't forget that synergy between Michael Anthony's Bass, Eddie's Guitar, and of course Alex Van Halen's drum prowess. Crazy that Eddie started off playing Drums and Alex playing Guitar, what a world....

Van Halen are rock gods and David Lee Roth had that deep soulful, perfect voice for hard rock music. Not to forget, was one of the most memorable front man, lead vocals ever. He peacocked around the stage, like Mick Jagger and had the hip action of Elvis, the gymnastics of a pro cheerleader and that solid voice, screeches and growls, like Janis Joplin almost, paired with the guitar...ahh, takes you back 👍👍🔥

I was 14 in 1978. Some friends and I were sitting in a car in the parking lot at the local grocery store on a Friday night. A carload of friends pulled up and asked us if we'd heard this new band Van Halen. They passed over the eight track and we plugged it in . This song started playing and rock music changed for us all. 🤯

A short time later I saw them up in Seattle at the Paramount theater for a buck! Yes one(1) dollar. They did not disappoint!. After the show, we stopped to get some Pizza down south on I-5. To our amazement the band was doing the same thing. We talked with them and had Pizza and beer...we were under age. but no one asked. :-) Such a great memory...such a great band. In May of '78, while I was visiting the UK, I saw Black Sabbath play a concert in Sheffield. This "unknown" band from CA was the warm-up act - Van Halen. Ozzie Osborn went on to say that the new group had upstaged them! Eddie Van Halen was a gifted pianist, one of those natural talents who played by ear. He and his brother, Alex, were actually born in the Netherlands and went to the US when about 10 yrs old. The band played on until Eddie died a couple of years ago.

My fav Van Halen song, and for me it's all about the guitar. Close second, for it's equally awesome guitar riff is Ain't Talkin Bout Love.🎶💜

This was the VERY FIRST Van Halen song I ever heard -- late at night, on our local college radio station. The opening riff was a revelation. When they were still an obscure unsigned band from Pasadena, Roth insisted on printing up flyers with their name on them -- even when they had no gigs booked. The others though he was crazy. But he was insistent -- wanting to keep their name out there. When they did start getting gigs, people recognized their name from the flyers -- so bigger crowds showed up. David Lee Roth's solo stuff is worth checking out... Just A Gigolo Sensible Shoes

One of the best debut albums of all time. When this came out it was literally jaw dropping, starting with this and then rolling right into Eruption and once your brain has been adequately melted and your chin is on your chest - You Really Got Me, Aint Talkin Bout Love, Im the One.... I wont list them all but some albums are worth listening to beginning to end and this is definitely one of them. Cheers!

So glad I got to see them three times in concert; two with David Lee Roth, once with Sammy Hagar. I've met people from LA who said they saw them play at a backyard birthday party. The cool thing about growing up in a big city is sometimes you get introduced to great bands before they become famous--you discover them before the rest of the world.

First album I bought as a kid was Diver Down. Then I bought VH I and II etc. And I was 14 when 1984 came out. Just a fun top notch band. After Eddie died I spent time listening to the isolated guitar tracks. I appreciated him even more.

Back in 78 when this came out sitting around the gathering of friends taking bong hits partying in our daily routine this comes on the radio and everyone stops and looks at each other and asking Who is this??? Yeah buddy they were kicking ass from day one man. The 70's was such a great time to be a teenager living life. Outside tossing the Buzz bee back and fourth catching one at night with the glow in the dark frisbee/buzz bee we had. Burned up a lot of weed man but it was what we did then...✌️ The music was so good then nothing can compare with today's music if you want to call it music... ☮️

Brings back great memories. Aside from Van Halen being my first concert, I first heard this on a friends car stereo in a Ford Courier pickup truck with just about the best car stereo of the day a Pioneer Super Tuner up at Lake Hollywood just below the Hollywood sign. About the same time as listening to Journey Wheel In the Sky and Styx Grand Illusion albums. What great times. So many great bands at one time and now very few and far between.

You guys gotta come up with some kind of little desk toy like the flowers that wiggle if you put 'em next to a speaker. The Amber Chair Dance moving dancing thingy! She's so adorable, like watching a small child experience it for the first time. It's a compliment! So sweet and playful. Plus she has great reactions and intelligent feedback. Love how she expresses herself. So cool you love Van Halen! And Zep! It's good to see younger generation dig it like I did when it first came out (I'm 62). Lucky Man, Jay! You two are so fun! Thank You. God Bless You Both. And thank you for the smile I get with each video.

Michael Anthony was always the glue & the reason for much of their vocal integrity. Yes Dave was always the front man but as far as those memorable choruses, Michael held it all down when the chaos ensued.
