Oh man, so many bangers to choose from. Everybody wants some. Beautiful Girls. Drop Dead Legs, Outta Love Again, Panama. You want the prime cuts avoid the sammy stuff. Too cheezy. Hard to go wrong with the early stuff.
@lucasberglund26203 жыл бұрын
I actually don't agree, I would say that the instrumentals got better in the sammy era. I don't call it cheezy music at all. I love all eras for different reasons. even some gary cherone songs, the only problem with Van Halen III is that the production is pretty trash and the singer is trying to sound like Sammy. I mean we all got different taste, you can call them cheezy but they really ain't. there is more colour and more complex compositions, better production and even Tone wise I think F.U.C.K Album got as good of a tone as the Fair warning Album. But my favorite album is probably Fair Warning.

It truly is different for those that weren't lucky enough to have such solid rock music available while in their formidable years. Having VH as part of my teen years is definitely a great part of our music culture at the tiny. It's great to hear someone find VH today.... but let's face it... so many people, and now a couple generations, just plain ol missed out on 70s, 80s rock.

A lot of classic, old-school hip-hop of the '80s and '90s was closer to rock in its spirit and sound. Run-DMC was rap mixed with hard rock on their first few albums, especially "King of Rock." Not laid back at all! Public Enemy were like a hip-hop group with a punk rock or heavy metal sensibilty. Their music was hard and wild! Check out "It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back" and "Fear of a Black Planet."

That was the first song on their self titled debut album in 1978. The guitar was the musical genius of the late great Eddie Van Halen. His brother Alex is on drums and percussion, Michael Anthony on bass, and David Lee Roth on vocals. One of the greatest bands in music history. Love em.

That was a great reaction. Takes guts to go to new genre's and your comments were really good. Just for background you should know that this band was solid and all members clicked. That said the person that made them great was Eddie Van Halen the guitarist and one of the most respected and influential electric guitarists in history. Their albums were all produced by the best and there is a classic, immediately identifiable Van Halen sound and this song is a great example of it. I think a lot of people would like to hear your takes on Van Halen, I know I would. You literally can pretty much take any song off of one of their first four albums and it will rock. They were that good. Sadly Eddie passed away in October of 2020 after losing his battle with cancer. Another legend has left this mortal plane.

Thanks for the reaction. Based on your reactions so far, I can tell you will really like Van Halen. And there is a ton of it too . They had 2 main lead singers (a third on an album that bombed) David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. This track was a DLR track. I strongly recommend you check our tracks by both. A great Sammy track that everyone likes is Right Now. The official music video is fantastic and thought provoking. Of course, Eddie Van Halen, one of history's greatest guitar players died on October 6. Thanks for keeping his music alive. If you haven't already reacted to it, his Eruption Guitar solo (live without a net version has superior audio and video quality) is widely considered one of the greatest rock guitar solos of all time. It will blow your mind away. You don't have any idea what a guitar can do until you see that clip.

Lead singer Diamond Dave (nick name) said the great thing about Van Halen was they could make rock/metal music that you could dance to which Nobody was doing back then. Van Halen had a lot of influences from rock to merengue, Momba and being from Southern California and they always had to switch it up traveling all over in the early days and knowing there audience. They were very polished by the time the got to there debut album. And Eddie Van Halen sounded like from another planet back in 1978. Inspired so many guitar players. Myself included

When the gifted guitar geek has a brother who can play the drums and run into a singer who has the same idea about their career options and played dance covers and pop hits of the seventies so that they could have a regular club gigs, you mix this up with a capable bassist with good vocal harmony skills you mix that all up and you get Van Halen one of thee best hard rock bands to come out of the late 70's. It's really to bad that not more gifted guitarist are never forced to play popular r&b and other dance influenced pop music when they are basically doing thee equivalent of a professional musician I can think of two great examples of guitarist that went on to be hard rock gods. As I recall guitar geek extrodonaire Jimi Hendrix did his time on the juke circuit with more then a few R&B personalities and Jimmy Page spent a few years in the studio playing rock guitar for numerous groups coming up in the mid sixties so one could make the argument that being able to play more dance influenced styles of music with professional competence is the secret ingredient that makes the difference between a great hard rock guitarist and a legendary hard rock guitarist and one has to wonder in this world where there are so many niche guitar players if we will ever have another legend anytime soon. Guys that are just as interesting to your feet as they are your heart an head, so many influential guitarist that are often more loved by the fans and fellow musicians then any so called music critics have often spent part of their early career playing music where having good rhythm chops is just if not more important then solos and riffs. Even Richie Blackmore spent years playing in a band that played 50's sounding rock n roll before he found fame with DP, I could go on but why?

You cracked me up - “and whoever played that guitar.” But - that’s not your fault at all. This is waaaay before your time. You’re doing great with your reactions btw. Keeping it honest and real. Edward Van Halen on guitar along with his brother Alex Van Halen on the drums. Michael Anthony on bass. David Lee Roth on lead vocals. Eddie was so creative on top of being hands down THE best rock guitarist ever. He frankensteined his guitar and amp to create his own unique sound. Also for this song a lot of people may not know it starts with a backwards blare of car horns, which was made by a contraption Eddie put together using a bunch of horns, a car battery, and a footswitch. They used to use it when they played at clubs in the early days.
