I don’t think it’s really a panic room even, it’s probably a room that Robert would use to ambush any enemy coming into his apartment. Robert doesn’t hide from anything, he just makes sure he’s in the right position to get the jump on whoever’s trying to kill him. Plus all on his Marine Corps stuff is in there too, it’s like a memorabilia and ambush room.

Realistically, this kid is a gangster-wannabe, and also (correct me if I am wrong) is a dropout. What can you really expect from this kind of people in real life lol.

Not necessarily. They were hunting McCall and they were technically under a huge assumption that he was going to the island where he used to live. The fact is all of them are highly directed marines, killers, and survivalist, and intelligence analysist. If McCall didn't want to be found he wouldn't have been. I imagine they THOUGHT McCall was protecting someone in a panic room or that someone else was there but that's ALL. A really good hunch. A hunch that'd have been unfounded if Miles had just sat his ass down and not moved. It'd be pretty dumb of them to just be sitting there waiting on someone who MIGHT still be in the apartment. They had a good lead of where he might have been so after a few minutes they'd have realize there's no one there to go catch McCall.

They literally could have just camped across the bridge and let the storm pass. There was only one exit off the island which was the bridge. The only consolation is that the Island wasn't abandoned so people would more than likely return so they were under limited time to gut him without any witnesses but they didn't really care all that much at that point.
