You can tell she's had intense training, and choreography, from ice dancers (and Jeffrey Buttle). Her programs are so charming and fun to watch, I think every other skater could take a lesson, regarding getting help from Ice dancers to put some personality in their skating. Those programs are finely crafted for her. They have her doing so many perfect little moves right on the musical points. Love. Now if we can just get her to stop under-rotating her jumps, and see if she can lay out some clean triple axels, we'll be ready for the Olympics. 😊

She is average tbh...she's had the attention for landing 3A and quads when she was a junior. But for the Olympic or World champ podiums? I don't think she stand a chance anymore.

I agree. I don’t know if she’ll ever get a quad, but none of the Russians ever look like they’re enjoying themselves as much as she does. In fact, Kamila often looks like she’s going to cry and/or vomit when she competes. The rest of them all look so serious all the time, skating is their job, not something they carry in their soul like Alysa seems to.

Wakaba has Japanese edges and insane speed. Maturity too. Both seem to enjoy skating which makes them fun to watch

Although, I think this music piece suits Liu great, she'll grow on this program I believe, this performance is already better than the first one I saw and instantly compared it to Wakaba's. I'd be happy to see both skaters at the Olympics ( pretty sure about Liu and find Japanese committee super biased towards Wakaba)

@@rajs7876 Karen is 22 years old. My guess is that after the Olympics she'll go back to college and retire from competing.

I think if she could get the under rotations under control and put out three strong triple axles in a competition, she would have a chance at the Olympic podium. Russia may have seven girls who can out-skate or outscore Alysa, but they can only send three at a time to the Olympics, and people make mistakes when they're jumping quads, and the ladies can't even jump quads in the short program. It is a big ask, but it's not impossible.

@@Sihaja That's pretty insulting. How do you know how hard she works? She's come a long way in a short period of time, and they have thrown a lot of different coaches at her. They want too much, and they put all this pressure on her shoulders. She was really short in stature as a junior, then she grew a few inches and everything fell apart. They had to start all over with her 2 years ago. She has a lot of heart, and she's going to do her best. That's all we can expect from her. I love her programs this season, they have more life than anyone else's. I don't care if she wins in Olympic medal. She's still a kid, and in the US girls last longer on the ice than in Russia. There are some really talented Russian junior girls competing right now, but the youngest of them will be 18 years old at the 2026 Olympics. Do you think any of them will be on that Russian Olympic team?

I don't know, Sasha couldn't duplicate her Russian Test Skate free program at the US International Classic. Why not Anna? I'm not sure if any of the best Juniors are 15 yrs yet, or I might suggest one of those.

@@user-hf4ik8kc1r Exactly. She's getting coaching and choreography from Ice dancers, who have to pay attention to all those little movements and emphasis on strong points in the music, and have to sell the story. I think that was such a great idea.

She scored 74 without a 3A a few weeks ago so I think once she gets it in the sp again she can be in the conversation with the Russians and Rika.

I think given the lack of true challengers at this competition, Alysa and her team decided to play it safe and just do a 2A in the SP here. I think they care more about clinching the 3rd Ladies spot in the Olympics than they do anything else. Clinch the spot here, and then prep the SP 3A for the upcoming Grand Prix where she’ll need to take the 3A risk in order to stand a chance at the podium.

It's still happening in competition. Practice does not count and Russian test skate is not actual competition.

Нормальная девочка…. музыкальная, артистичная, техничная. Работает на результат и качество…. а не как у Тутберидзе толком ни одна не катает…. зачем заявлять элементы и не выполнять или на половину, теряется целостность программы…. Зато понтов у Тутберидзе с её недочемпионками, полные трусы….. пусть спортсменка лучше прыгнет четко 3Lz - 3Т с правильным заходом, приземлением, ребром и выездом….. чем чем заваленный квад или плохо исполненный…. особенно в у Тутберидзе грешат приземление на 4м лутце на флип( в лучшем случае ), а чаще становятся на флутц…. к тому же у тутзика, спортсменки часто не докручивают прыжки…. мне вообще не интересно смотреть тутберидзовских псевдочемпионок…. лично для меня в российской фигурке есть только 2е настоящие фигуристки - Туктамышева и Трусова….. хотя Саша и прыгает много квадов, она хотя бы делает это честно и пытается довести до совершенства….. остальные только заявляют, а делают тяп - ляп….. слава Богу сейчас родители стараются отдать детей к другим тренерам, а не к кучерявому тутзику…. сколько сейчас других тренеров выставляют своих спортсменок, а то раньше везде были только тутзиковскте неумехи….. потихоньку просыпаются родители и это радует…. хватит уже и детей травмировать и непрофессиональный контент выдавать….. For a lot of people skating skills, presentation, artistry, musicality and performance as well as strong jumps and spins is still considered top standard. Being able to do difficult jumps is awesome but figure skating is about a lot more than just landing a jump.
