Is it possible that certain medications for chronic conditions (sleeping tablets, hypertension meds) are causing problems? Perhaps during punishing exercise regimes, the overheating of the body and brain is causing brain damage? It may be something simple we're overlooking.
@GEricG
@GEricG 3 жыл бұрын
@@macclift9956 I can't imagine that such things could be ruled out. There are many contributory factor to dementia in old age: inherited genes, alcohol abuse, smoking, possibly years of poor sleep patterns and bad diet. What causes dementia at such a relatively young age - who knows. Obviously certain types of dementia can be brought on by repeated head trauma, strokes and alcohol abuse.

@@GEricG You're right of course. Dementia at a relatively young age is very puzzling though. Many young people are on sleeping tablets and anti-depressants today; repeated antibiotic courses for just about everything is also very common, and as far as I know, antibiotics heats the body to kill off the bacteria, etc, so perhaps it also heats up the brain to dangerous levels, who knows! One of those medications could well be what is causing dementia in people who are far from old.

Having low cholesterol is one of the contributing factors to having a dementia and Alzheimer's. Cholesterol protects the lining of our neurons. Fat especially cholesterol is very important for a proper functioning of the body: it helps the structure of our skin so it won't collapse, it is needed for production of hormones, it is needed for absorption of nutrients and minerals. Fat including cholesterol has a bad rep, but they found out that our body fat has stems cells, which for the longest time experts only thinks that they can only be found from very young babies. I noticed once a person who is sick gets really skinny they ended dying right away. I think they will continue to have lived if they have not lost their fat reserved

I have a mom with dementia. I fully understand how it was for her. From the beginning of the onset where we and she 1st realized there was an issue till today. I want to share my view: i don't think keeping them just working can help them much. This is just to make them feel they are engaged. It does not help in the TREATMENT, which is what the patient really needs. They don't need you to waste their time on merely keeping them busy. In fact, they will feel down that you are seeing them being wasteful.

I was shocked when I heard of a young female singer I had seen performing, all dressed up etc suddenly diagnosed with this dreadful illness that not only strikes the elderly. Next time I saw this female, she was like a baby doll in pink track suit being taken everywhere by her carer, a mere shadow of the very confident, lively,vibrant person she once was who loved social life and entertaining people. I made a point of learning useful things to help prevent or delay it's on set.I read books on it that mentioned need for social interaction,mental challenges and physical movement, Especially anything that involves movement across your body eg swinging a golf club etc. I do such movements daily, do things to challenge the mind eg try to learn new hand skilled, like play a musical instrument.It doesn't matter if you are crap at it. It seems to be the trying to do it that counts as beneficial. Evidently, meals cooked in aluminium pots does not cause Alzheimer's, like I and many others believed. But I still avoid them now. However, after a lifetime of our mothers cooking our food in aluminium pots on asbestos stove mats for better heat distribution, living in asbestos houses etc, if we were going to die from such things it would have happened by now. But we are still here and OK, so perhaps these things are not as toxic and evil as we are led to believe, so long as treat them sensibly egdon'go interfering with the asbestos house walls by sanding them or stunning them with brushes that activate and loosen the dangerous fibres, don't cook certain foods in aluminium pots tht will set off a potentially bad chemical reaction and then eat the resultant cheemic mess that could damage your health. Common sense needs to prevail because everything seems to be toxic to a degree or produce allergic reactions, it seems, nowadays. But, by some miracle, the human race survived all this, climate change, too, despite all these dangers we are warned about with certain things eg aluminium pots, asbestos etc. What strikes me as odd is how much is made about the potential danger of such substances but very little fuss is made over far more dangerous substances eg illiciit drugs and alcohol.

I believe you can still recover when you suffer a stroke and have dementia. I went for my physiotherapy in Singapore and continue with my own exercises to regain my left arm and leg strength. It was tough and painful and of course risky but I regain my full normal self eventually after about a year. No risk, no gain. It's not possible to get any health personnel to accept my experience as they says there were great risk with what I did as I can lose control and fall and hurt myself. I am glad that I had been successful to regain my normal self but no medical personnel will accept my proposal because of the risk involved. Guess there is always no risk, no gain. I believe ore can be done to help others. The risk can be greatly reduced with protection measures.

The cause is a mutation in a gene that produces Tau protein. The protein attaches itself to a neuron and kills it. The dead neuron turns into a type of plaque (not like on teeth) and accumulates on the brain further helping to kill the brain cells. So far from what I have read they don't know what caused the mutation in the gene.

@maxalberts85
@maxalberts85 4 жыл бұрын
It's "caused" by proteins that create plaque and interfere with brain functioning. As people continue to live longer and longer (the maximum age our bodies can attain is 120), this brain disinformation will continue to affect increasing numbers of the population--the majority will be very old. As for the rest, they'll have approximately the same chance of getting sick as of being struck by lightning or killed in a plane crash.

They didn't say he was talking those. I'm not a fan of statins and I don't think they are good for you brain. But alzheimer's isn't a " side effect" of statins. Otherwise it would go away. And plenty of people get it without statins and it was around before statins. stop assuming things. This disease needs a cure. Not assumptions. They said NOTHING about prescriptions he'd been on. And if they did I could list thousands and thousands of people who take any medication and don't have alzheimer's
