There have been a lot of challenges that came with surviving psychosis, including the feelings surrounding what happened to me. It’s hard not to feel emotions like shame, denial, and detachment. How you process them is everything.

I am,sincerely, glad you were able to vocalize your experiences about your symptoms of schizoaffective disorder and enter the bigger conversation helping others to not feel so uncomfortable about what they are going through.

Carolyn, one of my young adult children just had his first psychotic episode this week. Your videos really helped me understand it. The wonderful explanations and way you articulate and present yourself, was so helpful. I asked a friend who is a psychiatrist if it would be good or bad to show him your 3 phases video and she said it might be good. He watched it and actually had the insight and courage to say he was experiencing most of what you were talking about, and I believe your video was the bridge that got him to agree to get help that day. Thank you so much. Keep your videos coming!!! Thank you!!

Your video is incredibly helpful to me in understanding what my adult son is going through. It gives me hope. I’m hoping in future videos that you will talk about what things were helpful to get you back on track. Thank you for making these videos!

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's been about 6 years since my first diagnosis (Bipolar 1) which has been upgraded to bipolar with psychotic features. I've had about 4 episodes of psychosis myself, but I've been sane and sober for almost 2 years now since the last episode. I can really relate to your experience, dealing with shame and guilt. Fortunately talking with my therapist has helped tremendously, but I also happened to have met someone at my job with schizoaffective and we can shoot the shit and talk about our experiences all the time. Time has helped with the healing. I still cringe sometimes though, some of my episodes I was really public on social media and misrepresented myself. Now I'm clear, but still wonder what my real identity is, because I thrive on creativity and expression but thats been truly dampened since being medicated. Overall, I feel like i've overcome the trauma and life setbacks. On the road to redemption now!

Congrats on your 2 years sane & sober! That’s been hard for me so I’m really psyched to hear that from you. I also have been doing a lot better since meeting another person with Schizoaffective. We’ve become pretty close friends & it is such a relief to relate on things that made me feel crazy.

Just love the color of your hair and your t-shirt! You are very beautiful. And this video is helpful like the others. I have a question about psycosis... The mystic thing that can be present on the episode, how do you deal?

Oh, do you mean the spiritual aspect? Like spiritual awakenings and whatnot? It definitely had some heavy spirituality, if that’s what you mean.

It's not real. It's been done TO you! You may have dealt with psychotic episodes from time to time, but you were fine UNTIL "they" attacked you! "They" made it permanent and irreversible the symptoms in your brain.

LOL! I'm still in psychosis. I've lived and breathe psychosis. It's pretty sweet. I get with saying a lot of things that most people would be canceled for but I'm using it now to just doodle and do my line of work. That said though, I try using it for good. All well intentioned chaos essentially.

I appreciate the well intentioned chaos! I am a very all or nothing kind of psychotic. Either my symptoms are totally gone and I’m fine or I’m just living in hell constantly.

@@NY_Mountain_Man I worked through a lot of it in my art, I guess you could say I changed it too. I would make comics about my psychosis and it was pretty cathartic. I might keep making them but it’s been awhile.

@@psychotic.in.seattle If you any idea what the end goal is besides hedonism, I'd love to hear it. (not encouraging nor bashing hedonism btw.) I just choose to stick with my partner despite the occasional weird pressure but I really don't care without a deep connection first. You would be.. shocked how many people assume aesthetics are all that matters. (or maybe they're right? Dunno.) It seems like the end point is just friends for people like us. That said though, I'm quite limited in that not everyone wants to be friends with someone who thinks like an axe murderer. lol (not for real btw. Just with words. Which is.. technically worse.) I hope this doesn't come out weird. But I wonder how you're faring. I'm gonna doodle about stuff that's bothering me atm. The new men's social movement compared to new wave feminism is fascinating me atm. Obviously, the inevitable conclusion is that we all have similar struggles and we should lay off each other. On the other hand, people are generally these tiny creatures of comfort and they often fall back on old, yet comfortable, ideas of alienating the other for weirdness or whatever arbitrary reason their support networks give. To say nothing of the collective trauma they harbor that is in most just a trauma reflex without people realizing it's a trauma reflex. Especially when said trauma reflex is validated and I'm here like, 'wtf? Really?' I'm conflicted. Do you have any thoughts on that topic?
