I remember recently I was sharing a bit of myself and thus band with my grandmother, trying to open up to her a little bit. Me opening up to people about more in depth stuff about myself has been a bit of a challenge. Anyway, at that time she looked at me confused and said "Why do you like being depressed?" I almost laughed and corrected her but decided not to. At the same time the news channel was playing showing the conflict in Ukraine and she stated to me about what's going on there and to be grateful for what I have. I don't think she meant it this way but I took as "What you're going through isn't a big deal. What these people across the world are going through, is." To which I understood and understand that my mental is significantly mild compared to many others who have it worse than me but I believe that all mental struggle is relevant no matter how severe or mild it is. Also on a side note I once asked my best friend and a family member I'm close to if they think that being grateful and being happy are the same thing. I also asked a co-worker as well. My friend and family member both said yes and no and my co-worker was adamant that yes, they are the same. I'm grateful for many things in my life. My family, my friends, my religious beliefs... but that doesn't mean I'm happy, at least not all the time. I wonder what you guys think? I love philosophical questions like these and thought I'd share with this wonderful community. 💜

This song definitely hits hard for me. Dealt with feeling like an outcast during all my schooling life and it's only since I left there that I've been accepted for who I am, not by everyone. But by those who matter and I'm so grateful for that! But this song is definitely relatable and I feel the sadness you felt listening to it, it shows that you've experienced this quite a bit as you described and I'm sorry that people can be shit and they've treated you like that! You're worth far more than that!

I love this song, the line about being human but the wrong kind just hits so damn hard, and it can apply to so many different things (race, sexuality, neurodiversity, mental health etc). Jake isn't just a singer he's an artist, Citizen Soldier's lyricism is so beautiful, they just manage to capture so much, things that are so difficult to put into words they somehow manage it and that blows me away everytime.
