Problem is when it's a parent in their child's home they feel entitled even if there are roommates. They are the older person and their child and their friends should just listen to them or let them do whatever because they are the older adult. I don't agree with it but I can see where the mentality that it's ok for the mom to make food for the little boy comes from. Still should have asked and if he was hungry or she wanted to give him a treat should have gone to an ice cream shop.
