Playing against GMs is goddamn terrifying. Even as a 2000, when I see my opponent has all of 2.3 seconds on the clock, I write the game off as a guaranteed win. But then GMs bust out MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE and suddenly 2.3 seconds becomes 23 more potential moves with a perfectly executed forced mate in 9, and I'm starring at my computer dumbfounded that I somehow just got mated by a horse in less than a second.

Can we please keep this series going or even go as far to have an opening series on it to cover all the variations. This is already pre made and would be fantastic to have summarized down into a system

Finally finished watching. These kinds of wins over 1800-1900s really calls into question some basic things I’ve heard. First, even at this rating it’s very easy to lose or be at a significant disadvantage out of the opening (implying that opening principles aren’t sufficient but understanding opening theory is), and also fairly basic blunders seem more common at this level than a beginner like me would have suspected, even considering these are 3-minute games. Aside from seeing the value in playing a less common opening in shorter time controls I’m also learning lots of other stuff - thanks!
