I have this dryer and I had taken it apart before to replace the door switch or something and had already forgotten how to get this apart. I had to use different words to find your video again. it is a beast it dries very hot so I use the less dry mode mostly. The other interesting video on KZfaq about this dryer is that there’s a guy that’s using it as a coffee roaster & no longer a clothes dryer. Just in case somebody wants to open a coffee place on the cheap.

I wish I had found this video 8 hours ago, as I spent nearly 45 minutes attempting to get to the innards of an Amana LG8153LM Super Duty dryer, as the usual lid clip release trick didn't work. As it turned out, I didn't need a putty knife or shim at all to get the door off: As soon as the two screws at the bottom of the door panel were removed, I pulled the bottom of the panel away from the frame and the spring clips that held the top of the door panel to the lid simply disengaged, revealing the two screws that held the lid in place. Reassembly was simply the reverse motion, engaging the clips at the top of the door panel while holding the panel at an angle, then rotating the bottom of the door panel toward the frame and reinstalling the two screws at the bottom of the panel. There were three wires that connected to a pushbutton interlock switch in the door panel, and I took a photo of the wiring arrangement before unplugging them, but that turned out to be unnecessary, as the terminals were of different widths and thus the wires would only plug into the switch the correct way.

And to note.. You do not need to replace those two extra screws at the top. The clips hold it up there, and it's fastened underneath as well. Why would they hide fasteners like that when all other driers just push those clips to release?

Man, this was timely. Great video. I decided it was time to de-lint the dryer and was trying to figure out how the lid lifted up as that seemed to be the standard method when i came across this. There wasn't as much as I might have thought given the age of the dryer. Next, the dryer vent line is going to be cleaned but that will wait till the snow stops here.

Looking at a parts list on this drier, I only see the one thermostat listed right at the front on the blower housing. Is that it? With the fuse unreachable, behind the fan until you remove the drum. Awesome.

The wiring diagram is usually found inside the top control panel. If you remove the back of the control panel, the factory wiring schematic will be taped inside. In some cases, the control panel is unscewed from the lid to find it. Then, you can use a digital volt/ohm meter to test wiring and components. You will need some basic electronic understanding to do this or a knowledgeable friend to help you.
