Amazfit fitted the Band 7 with its ​​BioTracker 3.0 PPG biometric sensor. Put simply, PPG sensors use low infrared light to measure how much light is absorbed by blood vessels. This provides constant measurement of heart rate & blood oxygen levels (SpO2).

Regarding your problem setting up the Chinese version of the Xiaomi Smart Band 7 Pro in the US, I've found the following elsewhere - 'you must change the region to China. Not the smartphone but the Mi Fitness or Zepp Life' 'I can confirm that changing the region in Mi Fitness app will allow you to connect to the Mi Band 7 pro. When I changed the region to China, I had to hit accept (or something in Chinese) on the band after scanning the band's QR code into the app to get it to fully sync. It did a firmware update and changed the language to English after it finished syncing and updating. I haven't tried changing the region in the Zepp Life app yet (which is the app that I prefer), but at least now I can sync the watch with something.'

I got the Amazfit, it suits my needs but I got it 5 days ago, charged it fully and it's already down to 45%. Maybe it's because I'm using lots of notifications and have been adjusting the settings to get it just right but it doesn't bode well, the battery on most phones decreases after a couple of years.

Mi fitness app for some reason uses a lot less battery on the band. Zepp life the band battery drains a lot faster.

Stupidly from Xiaomi, Zepp was Mi app. They ditch it and made the current Mi app. Which made a lot of people disappointed.
